Amanda and Raffaele managed to beat the murder rap by being completely innocent.
What is interesting is the way Guede beat the murder rap.
To start with, Guede chose a drug-addled whore to rape and murder.
Then the Italians reduced the charges against Guede in order to falsely accuse Amanda and Raffaele. This led to Guede getting 30 years instead of the LIFE sentence he would normally have gotten.
Then the family of the murdered whore (who happen to all be pretty scummy people) prevented Amanda and Raffaele from getting a fair trial because they thought sending innocent people to prison might pave the way to stealing their money. These efforts led directly to Guede's sentence being reduced to 16 years.
Guede is up for what passes for parole in Italy in about 2 years now.

I'm torn as to what the best result will be.
On the one hand, if Guede chops up a bunch more young women in Italy, there could be a truly horrific body count. If you look at how Meredith actually died, Guede really has the makings to become another Jack the Ripper.
But if that happens, the Kercher scumbags could find that the person who killed Meredith is back in prison, and serving a long term this time. That's the last thing that that pack of freaks deserves.
On the other hand, if Guede reforms and never kills another person, he'll likely stay free from prison after he gets out. If there is one thing the Kercher scumbags deserve, it is to see Meredith's killer walking around free and living a happy and productive life.
But if that happens, the huge body count that Italy so richly deserves, won't happen.
It kind of sucks that only one or the other is going to happen.
But at least I'll have the satisfaction of watching one of them happen.
The clock is ticking. Two years until parole.
