Cassation released their motivation.

Pretty much as expected. Italy is backwards and ignorant, and has no concept of justice or human rights -- traits maybe shared by the whole of Europe, if we can trust what Walter Hinteler says about their system. (But can we?)

Anyway, I hope Raffaele comes to live in the US so we can protect him.

By the way, I've seen speculation that the Italian Police will murder Guede as soon as he is freed, to prevent having to later explain how he got such a short sentence after he repeats his crimes a few more times.

I personally think it's unlikely, because the Italian Police are so far above the law that they never have to answer for anything they do. They have nothing to fear from the disaster that Guede will inflict on the women of Italy.

But it's an interesting hypothesis.

I was thinking back on this, and I think I might have been wrong.

The Italians made sure to murder Curatolo so that he could not embarrass them.

Since they were willing to do that, they'll likely murder Guede as well.

Well, that certainly might happen soon: since he "wilfully gave misinformation" to get his residence authorisation in Lugano/Switzerland, it was revoked. Source

Are you ready to justify your accusation that I am persistently wrong about some sort of fact, or are you still too much of a coward to back up the accusations you make?

Note that Raffaele did not "willfully give misinformation" as you claim. Rather he was accused of doing so by a primitive third-world state.

What you third-world primitives don't seem able to understand is that just because you accuse someone of something, that doesn't make it true.

That applies to accusations made by you, and it applies to accusations made by Switzerland.

Okay, Switzerland is a primitive third-world state (actually it must be "country" - the state here is Ticino)
What can you expect from a country which introduced democracy only in 1291?

He was accused: correct.
Evidence: his own writings which he voluntarily made in the formulario di autocertificazione.

What do I expect from you third-world primitives?

For a start, how about honor, integrity, justice, human rights, and ethics. If that's too much to ask of you, see if you can manage basic human decency.

And what someone managed to achieve in 1291 does not even remotely excuse your backwards ignorance today.

I'm sure you primitives had the fanciest mud huts on the planet 15,000 years ago too. It still doesn't excuse your behavior.

@oralloy,
So if someone doesn't fill out the questionnaire correctly for an US-visa and therefore entry is denied - that's correct.

If someone fills out a similar paperwork for an European country - it doesn't matter what he writes because Europe is just a bundle of third world countries.

You primitives might want to leave the logic to us civilized people. The fact that I cast aspersions on the claim that Raffaele "willfully gave misinformation" does not mean I am saying it would be OK to willfully give misinformation.

Instead of attempting logic, how about you attempt to justify your accusation that I am persistently wrong about something. Even a third-world primitive should be man enough to try to justify the accusations he makes.

How long have you had broadband Walt? I've had it for almost ten years. Some parts of America are so backward and primitive it's yet to make an appearance. The engineers have seen The Hills Have Eyes and aren't taking any chances.

What a typical idiotic statement. Montana is the fourth largest state in the United States, with an area in excess of 147,000 square miles. It is, however, 44th in population, at just over one million people, and 48th in population density, just fractionally under 7 people per square mile. They probably have broad band in Billings, but it's hardly worth anyone's while to provide it elsewhere in the state, and nobody's going to pay the cost to run coaxial cable to their homes over enormous distances. If broadband is lacking in Montana as an example, it's because of how remotely many people live. It's likely even worse in some parts of Alaska, and similar in Wyoming and Idaho.

By contrast, the United Kingdom is less than two thirds the size of Montana in square miles, but has more than 60 times the population. The population density is almost one hundred times that of Montana.

You really are a f*cking idiot sometimes.

@Setanta,
Always ready to jump to Oralboy's defence I see, just like Waterboy's.

One would think that regardless of size, the richest, most powerful country in the world would have enough resources to provide broadband for its citizens.

Oralboy doesn't live in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho or Alaska, he lives in Michigan. You know Michigan, home of backwaters like Detroit?

"Amanda Knox is secretly reunited with ex-lover Raffaele Sollecito in New York -

Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito back together

"But the passionate embrace between Amanda Knox and former lover Raffaele Sollecito raised some serious questions last night.

"Their tryst came just hours after they were ordered to return to Italy to face a retrial over the murder of British student Meredith Kercher.

"Italy’s top judges ruled the possibility that the 21-year-old died during a sex game that went wrong needed to be re-examined.

"And the move immediately cast doubt on whether the couple should be allowed to be in contact now they have been formally recalled.

"The pair, along with Knox’s mother, spent Tuesday visiting New York together – sparking rumours they have rekindled their romance.

"There was no sign of James Terrano, the loyal boyfriend Knox is reportedly living with in Seattle, Washington.

"An onlooker said: “They just looked like a normal couple who had been with each other a long time. Together with her mum they explored Manhattan and took the subway to get around.

“You only have to look at him to see he still holds a huge torch for Amanda. He clearly finds her captivating. When they hugged she closed her eyes as he gave her a tender kiss on her cheek.

“At one point he put his arm around her to help warm her up. They never once stopped chatting.

“It’s astonishing they are allowed to even talk to each other, let alone see one another, considering they are both suspects in a murder trial.”

"The pair spoke to each other in Italian and were chaperoned during the afternoon excursion by Knox’s mother Edda Mellas, who walked several yards behind everywhere they went.

"When confronted by the Mirror, Knox and Sollecito were cagey about their reunion.

"Knox refused to comment about the Italian court’s ruling.

"She also declined to confirm or deny reports that she planned to stay in the US and would not be returning to Italy to face justice.

"Sollecito, who also says he has no wish to go back, said: “We have everything to do now. We have a lot of planning.”

"Knox’s mother, Edda, added: “We need to speak to our lawyers.”

"The couple were reunited as Italy’s Supreme Court “faulted” the 2011 acquittal of Knox and Sollecito by the appeals court for the murder and sexual assault of room-mate Meredith.

"On Tuesday the court said the decision to release the pair was full of “deficiencies, contradictions and illogical” conclusions and ordered the new appeals court to look at all the evidence to determine whether Knox helped kill Meredith.

"Three months ago, the Court of Cassation overturned the couple’s acquittal which had seen Knox released after serving four years of a 26-year prison sentence.

"Knox, now 25, and her then boyfriend Sollecito were initially convicted and sentenced but a Perugia appeals court acquitted them after criticising virtually the entire case mounted by prosecutors.

"The court noted the murder weapon was never found, said that DNA tests were faulty and that prosecutors provided no murder motive.

"Drug dealer Rudy Guede, from the Ivory Coast, was convicted of the killing in a separate trial and is currently serving a 16-year sentence.

"In the 74-page Cassation ruling, the high court judges said they “had to recognise that he [Guede] was not the sole author” of the crime although judges agreed he was the “main protagonist”.

"They said the new appeal process would “not only demonstrate the presence of the two suspects in the place of the crime, but to possibly outline the subjective position of Guede’s accomplices”.

"It said possible motives ranged from a simple case of forced sex involving Meredith “to a group erotic game that blew up and got out of control”.

"In a trial that made headlines around the world, Knox – nicknamed Foxy Knoxy – said she was at Sollecito’s apartment having sex and watching a DVD with him when Meredith, from Coulsdon in Surrey, was killed.

"In a recent interview, in which she boasted about being proud of one-night stands and drug use, Knox defended her actions saying: “I think that everyone’s reaction to something horrible is different.”

"The interview was given as Knox cashed in on the trial by promoting her book, Waiting To Be Heard.

"The deal is reported to have earned her £2.6million. Sources close to 29-year-old Sollecito claim he still loves Knox and hopes they may get back together one day.

"When in November 2011 he announced they had split he said tearfully: “Our love was like a seed that was not allowed to grow because it was brutally stamped on.

"We were both victims of a cruel injustice and our relationship was overcome.”

"During the trial Sollecito, from Bari in southern Italy, claimed he was offered a secret deal by prosecutors to implicate the American undergraduate but said he never considered betraying her.

"He added: “She told me that she thinks that I’m a kind of hero, but I don’t think so.

"I did it because I know it’s the truth. It’s the good thing to do. It’s the only way for me.”

"Prosecution will be very interested: Legal view by Rocco Franco
It would not be against Italian law for Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito to meet unless a specific ruling had been made by the court, which I believe is not the case.

"But their meeting may provide ammunition for the prosecution over the credibility of both suspects if either changes the lines of defence that they have maintained so far.

"The questions are: what was the reason for the pair getting together again after so long? And have they done so before?

"Italian prosecution lawyers may want to know if the case was discussed.

"But it would be very difficult for the two to change their versions of events having given such detail."

Hiya, Walter. It wasn't so much the "British Tabloid" photos but the article which seemed interesting. Strangely, it seemed 24 hours after the couple were asked to return to Italy for another trial, Raffaele Sollecito was on the move. As you noted in an earlier post, Sollecito had attempted to enter Switzerland but were denied entry because of misleading information and now he is in the US. Who would have thought such a trial on another continent would be so covered here in the US. The media will definitely not let Amanda and her Italian lover off the hook. Their every move will be followed.

More likely it's just the fact that you are so stupid that the only way you ever argue is by engaging in name-calling and bigoted stereotypes. And now and then your bigoted stereotypes are egregious enough that he feels like slapping you down.

Even if events had occurred as you say, it would hardly be strange.

But Raffaele was not attempting to enter Switzerland as you claimed. Rather, he was already in Switzerland, and Switzerland chose that moment to expel him.

Switzerland likes turning innocent people over to those who seek to harm them (look at their eagerness to hand Jews over to the Nazis, once upon a time).

So if you want to concoct a believable conspiracy about Raffaele suddenly being on the move, you're going to have to figure out a way to work the Swiss government into your conspiracy.

I know the only way you can achieve your goal of persecuting the innocent is by concocting vile lies about them, but try not to be so sloppy. You can concoct better lies than your above nonsense.

Ah well. We can stay and settle as long as want in the USA. And, of course, there no questionnaire to be fulfilled before and certainly none additionally when entering ...

Oh, and they handed him over to the Nazis. He is now re-united with them, I see ...
