Actually it is quite easy to counter. The fact that having a gun did not result in a successful defense
in this situation in no way means that guns will not be useful for self-defense in all situations.

If one day, u go out in the morning and it fails to start,
u don 't throw it in the garbage and try to convince everyone else in America
to throw
HIS car in the garbage, that we all now become dedicated pedestrians
because it did not start some morning. Our tools don 't always work 100%.
In
this particular case, there was nothing rong with their guns;
their owners were lost in (cyber)space, in their portable computers.
