@Walter Hinteler,
Our boys travelled to Liechtenstein in 1995 and were held to a 0-0 draw. I understand alcohol may have played a part!!

@Walter Hinteler,
Very Happy I believe both sides were. There were more Irish supporters in the principality than they were citizens (I may be exaggerating). A good time was had by all. And we failed to qualify for Euro'96 (which Germany won of course. "FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME, IT'S COMING HOME...". Wink ).

@Walter Hinteler,
As of now, additionally to the earlier mentioned (European) teams, Germany and Switzerland booked their places at the 2010 World Cup finals with qualification victories on Saturday.

Congrats!

If the USA beats Honduras tonight, they are in too! If not, then Wednesday's game against Costa Rica (which one handsome TKO has tickets to) will be needed to secure a qualification.

@Diest TKO,
Congrats to the USA as well! (So you might watch the coming match very relaxed, TKO.)

@Walter Hinteler,
Just one minute away from beating the world champions. One frikkin' minute! Of course, that's why Italy are world champions. Happy that Germany are through (and therefore not in the playoffs). I predict Ireland will draw France.

What method are you using for that prediction?

Haruspicy?

@Francis,
No method. Just invoking Murphy's Law!

(Thank you for introducing me to haruspicy, which was previously unknown to me. The sacrifice aspect is very appropriate Wink ).

Charlie Davies, the USA forward was in a car wreck early yesterday morning here in DC. The wreck which did not involve another car took the life of one of the female passengers. Davies, had to have surgery. He broke both his femur and his shin bone. Additionally, he had an lacerated bladder. He is in recovery now.
