@RexRed,
RexRed, your symptoms look a lot like convert's zeal. If that's what you're going through, you need to get over it and really start thinking for yourself. Democrats aren't always right, either.

Of course, I'm not yet dismissing the possibility that you're just bullshitting us.

I am even starting to like granola and, get this... I even like Nancy Pelosi... I am sorry for the hateful threads I started up about Barrack Obama and Michelle Obama... (although i did have trust issues and there were links to corruption but I am willing to give them a chance without prejudgment.)

I still don't like ACORN
I think ultimately you will find you are not part of any party and that loyalty to any one party, religion, ideology, etc,etc is where the problems start because we end up defending contraditions or wrongs. I beleive you will take some of the things you learned from conservative/rebublican/religious ideals and keep the good and toss the bad.

None of us have it right.

Dialectics is based around three (or four) basic metaphysical concepts:

1. Everything is transient and finite, existing in the medium of time (this idea is not accepted by some dialecticians).
2. Everything is made out of opposing forces/opposing sides (contradictions).
3. Gradual changes lead to turning points, where one force overcomes the other (quantitative change leads to qualitative change).
4. Change moves in spirals (or helixes), not circles. (Sometimes referred to as "negation of the negation")

@Thomas,
I considered people might think that I am disingenuous. No I am the type of person who is incapable of that. I am a very passionate man, honest and forthright though sometimes misguided.

When religious diversity becomes the norm then all of the world needs to be encapsulated into a higher idea of God in order for future generations to find unity in diversity.

Democrats are definitely not always right. hehe Just listen to Biden every time he opens his mouth. Smile

Although Barrack Obama won that last election it was also the most corrupt election in history. The American vote is the most sacred of the people's possessions in this republic/democracy. I EXPECT Obama to address this issue and not just sweep it under the rug.

I am not a communist nor am I an anarchist. I do believe our government needs to be bigger to handle the challenges of our country today. Had our government been bigger we would not have seen the death toll claimed by Katrina. The rebuilding process of New Orleans would not have been so slap shot and utterly wasteful had our go0vernment been equipped to handle it..

I also think the private "lobbyists" sector buying off congress members is egregious. and MUST be exposed and made public. We can blame global warming on the lobbyists because they have paid congress for years to let big business trash the earth and third world, burgeoning countries so they could improve their bottom line. So they could pay their CEO's more. The entire business world psyche just as the religious world need to be encapsulated into and moral ideal of decorum and proper FAIR business etiquette.

Perhaps by making an example of few large corporations and making them clean up some of their messes they have left in other countries might deter future business from attempting to do the same thing. (example Dow Chemical in India) I don't believe the republicans had the will or the gumption to make corporations tow the line.

have I convinced you yet? Smile

As I mentioned in an earlier post I have switched my political party. I have switched like someone turning on a light. It is a total reversal of my politics and sometimes I feel like I am unsure of myself. I guess it is like an internal implosion where the core principles of the republican party i can no longer identify with. Obama, guns, abortion, gays, immigration, religion... I don't even believe in the bible anymore. Have I lost my soul or gained a heart? What is happening to me? (I am even learning to speak Spanish...) I sometimes can't believe the person I used to be.

Well, you used to be an attention-seeking, self-hating fundamentalist homosexual. I suppose it's good to see that you're not a fundamentalist anymore.

@joefromchicago,
I am not self hating either. But I am a homosexual... Now that you have gotten your digs in I hope that has soothed your repressed homosexual ego. Yes I like some attention I am not gonna beat myself up over it.

@RexRed,
I never did understand your allegiance to the Republican party.

Actually, I don't really understand anyone's allegiance to a political party. One should look for the candidate that best matches one's values.

@DrewDad,
I am a democrat but I will still vote for Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe... I am a democrat now because my core principles seem to line up better with the democratic party.

Collins and Snowe have consistently demonstrated non partisan leanings. If I find they openly support the gay marriage ban in Maine then they will also lose my support.

Gay marriage from my stand point should be protected under the pursuit of happiness part of our legislation. To me, gay marriage is helpful in keeping gays from the rampant promiscuity that has plagued the homosexual community for many years. One would think conservatives would find some virtue in that alone.

Accusing me of being homosexual as a way of insulting me? No, you're not self-hating at all.

Rex, we need to help the persecuted:

- transgendered people
- third gender people
- polygamists
- recreational drug users

There's wrongs to be righted, and ills to be undone!

@Chumly,
I know you are being cynical but I don't think it is fair or ethical to lump monogamous homosexuals with adulterous polygamists and drug users. Transgendered people can be monogamous also and should be protected under marriage laws.

Did i strike a chord, good, I knew there had to be some latent reason why you felt the need to bash my homosexuality publicly.

I'm not bashing your homosexuality. I'm perfectly content with your homosexuality. That makes one of us.

@joefromchicago,
I also don't know how your own homosexuality (be it what it is) would make me self hating...
