@RexRed,
that's cool. i voted against prop. 8 and believe that you have the right to marry the person that you love.

I don't know if this is a republican or democrat issue but i still hate gambling and the state lottery. I think it is low and classless. I also believe it has tarnished the American Indians image in the world due to their close association with the practice. There is still a bit of an old fashioned conservative in me.

@RexRed,
Well, watch your emotional swings, guy. Granola? next, it'll be quinoa.. and then what, eh?

Calma, you'll have vying ideas. But that's good, you'll work them out.

When I left religion in my early to mid twenties, I had a burgeoning resentments. I cried in anger when I went into a certain church with friends...

I'm now a crisply older, and see good parts of what used to engage me. Not that I'm going back, just that everything is not all black and white or plaid.

not sure that i like state lotteries either, myself. i believe too many people are spending what's called "scared money" that would be better spent on mundane stuff like food, rent etc. but at the same time, i can't help but think that nearly anything that can help the tribal nations bring themselves into the world at large is maybe worth it.

like you, i've had a change of heart; in that i used to really love going to the race track. never spent much, but i enjoyed the horses (being from kentucky and all). but the last several years i've started feeling that their is a lot of unnecessary cruelty that goes on for a few minutes of excitement.

i still like casinos though. kinda weird in that i'm not much of a gambler. i do like getting free drinks though!

@RexRed,
Canadians don't gamble, we take measured risks.

@DontTreadOnMe,
I watched racing from about age fourteen (long story). My gallery business partner spent a lot of her life involved with dressage. We shut the gallery to watch a race or two a block away at a town bar with a big screen, while we both think three year olds are too young, given the breeding.
I don't care about the gambling, but the racing, which I now think is a mix of corruption and cruelty to animals... still catches my eye.
Do I still have some gorgeous horse racing photos that could make me cry?
Nah, I cleared them out, re de cluttering, which is too bad, as some are just beautiful.

@ossobuco,
But wait, I don't mean to joke at rex. Just saying this is all a journey.

Now I have to go look up ACORN. Which I've understood, or so I thought, and forgotten.

I also supported Sonia Sotomayor as a US supreme court judge. I love the ethnic diversity in America and the courts should also reflect that diversity. I had a few reservations but not enough to sway me against her.

@RexRed,
hey rex, slap me if I'm outta line but...isn't coming out of the political closet intertwined with coming out of the sexual closet so to speak?...earnest question.

@panzade,
Perhaps there is a sexual element to politics. Democrats blog about their sexual escapades while republicans go to confessional. (just kidding)
