@Region Philbis,
Another solution is to look at the shooter's history, and go after that. So:

If the shooter's into violent video games, blame the games
If the shooter's into loud music, blame the music
If the shooter's transgender, blame transgenders
If the shooter's a right-wing douchebag, blame mental health

@Mame,
I just know one thing for sure:
All these lawmakers refusing to do anything about these assault weapons have a special place in hell reserved for them!

@Region Philbis,
Why blame Congress and not the people who elected them?

This isn't an issue anywhere else.

If someone ran on a pro gun liberalisation ticket over here nobody would vote for them.

That's clearly not the case in America.

@Region Philbis,
There seems to be such a large section of society so obsesded with guns that nothing else matters.

Oralloy is such a single issue voter.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/shooting-reported-louisville-police-confirm-multiple-casualties-rcna78933

Of course by now we've all already heard about it, and normally a link would hardly be warranted, as it has all of the usual mass shooting reporting items you'd find in an article ~12 hours after the event was reported:

-Prayers, condolences, condemnations
-Victims named
-Eyewitness account, often including a 'never imagined in our community'
-Praise for response and statement that without "swift" action, there would be more dead

But this little bit did raise an eyebrow:
Quote:
And as police responded to Old National Bank, some officers had to peel off for another shooting just a mile away, at Jefferson Community and Technical College, officials said.

The US 'mental health crisis' looks to be getting worse, despite years of painstaking efforts by the champions of that theory . . .

@thack45,

i'd like to hear from the shop owner who sold him the murder weapon.

does he have any remorse? any guilt?

or is he just happy he made another sale...

I seriously doubt we'd see guilt or remorse. A merchant of death who might feel some level of personal responsibility for the occasional negative consequences of how they make their money is probably in the wrong line of work. But given how frequently guns and a religion of constitutionalism go together, the path to compartmentalization is hardly a daunting one.

Signs that we’ve finally reached a tipping point on guns

The once-powerful NRA is mired in scandal following years of lavish spending (it’s also legally questionable, according to the New York attorney general, though the group has rejected that allegation). Nearly a million members have walked away since 2018. The NRA is now in a fight for survival amid lines of credit that appear to be maxed out and internal battles over the group’s future. Meanwhile, Democrats — once wary of mentioning gun control at all — have finally rediscovered their voice...
