@Investigator,
It's people like you who get off on shootings, that's the problem.

The root cause is some sad loser's need to feel important.

And you've not done any maths at all, just half baked ideas pulled out your arse.

We protect our children from 2nd amendment perverts.

@Investigator,
So typical of NRA stupidity to tell other countries they have/are the problem.

We don't have mass shootings or NRA perverts jerki9ng off over Sandy Hooks.

It's not Utopia by any means but it's a thousand times better than America with child abusing godsquad, child murdering NRA scum, 3rd Reich healthcare, carcinogenic food additives and lousy air quality.

@Investigator,
Not big on risk mitigation but big on bullshit statistics. Figures.

So the US being so bad at this is because you're far more mentally ill than other nations? Pans out.

@hingehead,
Right mate, had your citizens had guns in your country, you wouldn't have been led to the slaughter by way of the jab and had all your freedom of speech taken away. I'll choose a nation of guns over that any day.

OMFG! LOL! Why does the right slide so easily into self-parody?

WTAF are you talking about? Which country has been slaughtered? Which country has had it's freedom of speech taken away?

You're not Trump and this isn't MSM - you can't talk bullshit and not have it questioned. You hilarious muppet.

US cleaning woman shot dead after arriving at wrong home

US officials are looking into whether to file charges against an Indiana homeowner who shot and killed a house cleaner who mistakenly showed up at the wrong address.

Police say they found Maria Florinda Rios Perez dead in her husband's arms on the front porch of a home on Wednesday shortly before 0700 local time (12:00 GMT).

Authorities had been responding to a call about a possible home invasion in the Indianapolis suburb of Whitestown. The two did not appear to have entered the home, police said in a statement.

They have formally submitted the case to the Boone County Prosecutor's Office for review to determine whether criminal charges will be brought in the case.

Police have not identified the people in the home or who fired the shot, saying in a statement on Friday that it is a "complex, delicate, and evolving case, and it would be both inappropriate and potentially dangerous to disclose that information".

They urged patience, warning of a "concerning spread of misinformation online" about the case.

Mauricio Velazquez, told CBS News, the BBC's US partner, that he wanted justice for his 32-year-old wife.

News reports say that she was a mother of four and originally from Guatemala.

In an interview with CBS affiliate WTTV, Mr Velazquez said the bullet came right through the door of the home.

"They should've called the police first instead of just shooting out of nowhere like that," he said through an interpreter.

Boone County prosecutor Kent Eastwood told The Indianapolis Star that the case is complex due to the language of the state's stand-your-ground law.

Stand-your-ground laws are in place in many US states and most permit an individual to protect themselves with the use of reasonable force, including deadly force, to prevent death or great bodily harm.

Similar incidents have made headlines across the US in recent years.

In 2023, Ralph Yarl, who was then 16, was shot twice after ringing the doorbell of the wrong home in Missouri. Andrew Lester, who was in his 80s, pleaded guilty and died while awaiting sentencing.

In New York, 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis died after being shot upon entering the wrong driveway. The homeowner who shot her is now serving a 25-year sentence.

Dog Accidentally Shoots and Injures a Pennsylvania Man, the Police Say

The man had been cleaning a shotgun and placed it on the bed shortly before it was fired. He received treatment at an area hospital.

Quote:
The shooter had four legs.

That was the initial conclusion of an investigation by the police in Shillington, Pa., who responded to a call about a shooting on Tuesday night.

A 53-year-old man had been shot in the back and injured by an unknown assailant, the man’s son said in a 911 call.

Cpl. Michael Schoone of the Shillington Police Department told WFMZ, a local news station, on Wednesday that the man said he had been cleaning his shotgun and set it down on the bed.

A few investigative questions ensued. Eventually, the police said, a four-legged suspect emerged.

The officers, he said, were informed that “a dog had jumped up onto the bed, causing the shotgun to go off, which openly struck the male.”

“He’s not sure what stage of cleaning he was in at the time, so it’s unsure if the dog’s paw may have gotten caught inside the trigger and the safety was off or if there was some sort of manufacturer malfunction,” Corporal Schoone told WFMZ.

“It looks like it was an accident, but it’s still being investigated,” he said.

The man, who was not identified by the authorities, received treatment at Reading Hospital. His condition was not available on Friday, a spokeswoman said.

No other information had been released about the dog, such as the name and breed. The police in Shillington, a borough in Berks County that is more than 30 miles southwest of Allentown, did not respond to multiple calls and emails on Friday.

The shooting generated reaction from gun safety advocates, as well as canine allies.

National media organizations were having a field day.

“Growl play is not suspected,” read the first sentence of the story in The New York Post.

Unusual, dog-involved shootings are not unheard-of in the United States.

In March, a Memphis man told the police that he was grazed in the thigh by a bullet fired from a gun when his puppy, Oreo, got his paw stuck in the trigger, local news stations reported.

In 2018, Matt Branch, a Louisiana State University football player, was shot in the leg when a Labrador retriever named Titus stepped on the safety mechanism and trigger of his shotgun which had been placed on a truck bed during a hunting trip. His leg was amputated.

In 2011, a duck hunter in Utah was shot in the buttocks when his dog stepped on a shotgun, injuring him, news reports said at the time.

@hightor,
Apparently the dogs involved did not have proper training.
