Your word games are silly. When you specifically ban a weapon whenever it has a pistol grip on it, it is the pistol grip that you are banning. You are not banning any of the lethal parts of the gun.

"Preventing murder" is not the motivation for laws against pistol grips on semi-auto long guns.

Laws against pistol grips do not prevent any murders at all.

Wrong. Such laws only ban semi-auto long guns with detachable magazines if they have harmless cosmetic features like a pistol grip.

Otherwise semi-auto long guns with detachable magazines are perfectly fine.

New York had the fifth-lowest gun deaths per capita out of the 50 states in the USA in 2020.

New Zealand doesn't have something like the second amendment to protect it's people from zealots.

Not a single gun has ever killed anyone by itself.

In any given year, for every person murdered with a rifle, there are 15 murdered with handguns, 1.7 with hands or fists, and 1.2 with blunt instruments. In fact, homicides with any sort of rifle represent a mere 3.2 percent of all homicides on average over the past decade.

But I am sure you won't let facts interfere with your opinion and I expect to hear "Well ban handguns too!"

And really, what difference does it make that their murder victims are killed with some other kind of weapon? Their murder victims are still just as dead as they would be if they were killed with a gun.
