@coldjoint,
Vans okay. Tire irons - nope. Not sure what to do about vans but there has to be a solution there. Meanwhile: ban the guns that kill dozens at the flick of a finger, so to speak.

@Olivier5,

So the US army is trying to make sure its troops can easily be killed by mass shooters. Good... Rolling Eyes

It would seem that not allowing them to carry guns is the thing that allows them to be killed. People with no means of self-defense are victims.

Besides putting bollards up or parking trucks or heavy equipment on streets with busy pedestrian traffic? It will work wonders and beautify our cities, right.

We were not raising these kinds of people 50 years ago, what do you think happened? The answer is obvious.

@coldjoint,
At least vans and drivers are registered. Guns slip under the radar.

When people adhere to an ideology too strongly and that ideology feeds hysterical messages to the followers 24-7, the herd mentality rules, not information, not logic. Hence, right wing bigots shoot, radicalized Muslims shoot. The demented, such as Charles Manson, get hysterical messages also, often self administered, and they kill.

Yeah, I have noticed that here.

Now why didn't we raise people like this 50 years ago?

I'm sorry, do you have to have a FBI background check to rent a van? Nope, just what appears to be a valid license, they don't check to see if it's actually current. You will also notice there is a difference between a privilege and a right.

You have just described the anti-gun groups. There is almost no logic used when dealing with mass shooter crimes, it's all about ideology to remove guns. The herd mentality has been aggressively used since the Parkland shooting to ban and restrict guns in the US, hence the mass protests and school walk-outs that have taken place.

See, you're not being honest. The majority of mass shootings have had nothing to do with any political agenda, or they would have been labeled as terrorism. The vast majority of these people are not right in the head, they have some sort of perceived wrong that has been done against them, no political messages or leanings. Weren't you just talking about "ideology feeds hysterical messages" and here you are in the next sentence doing just that.

Charles Manson never killed anyone, so what type of point are you trying to make? Hysterical messages again?

Unconstitutional. Those are just ordinary guns. It is the large magazines that allow the greater carnage.

Stores have been required to register every gun they sell on a Form 4473 for the past 50 years.

@oralloy,
One of the last shooters had the guns slipped to him by a family member, where people not allowed to have a gun by unenforced law actually still have their guns. Gun shows sell to anybody they feel like, generally with no paper work. Etcetera. In short there are gun laws but nobody follows them except a few who don't know they don't need to.

Why do you keep spreading this lie? Gun shows are just as regulated as gun shops. FFL required to sell and background checks are a must.

I seen guns--both rifles and handguns--sold out of the back of someone's pickup truck all my life. Gun shows are the same, just in fancy dress.

@edgarblythe,
It is only the private sales at gun shows that are not recorded on a Form 4473.

Any sales that a gun store makes at a gun show are recorded on a Form 4473.

I'm not sure how a Form 4473 would work for private sales at a gun show. Would the gun show keep the records?

In any case, we can't risk improving the government's ability to trace guns so long as there is such a concerted effort to violate the Second Amendment.

@Baldimo,
That's what I was saying: according to your twisted logic, the US army makes its recruits easily murdered by their policy of regulating guns on military bases. So kind of them to make the life of traitors and terrorists easier.

Likewise, banning guns in the senate just makes the senators easier to kill, right? I guess them American senators are all suicidal, otherwise they would authorise guns on senate ground... ;-)

And why do they ban guns on planes? So that the passengers and crew can be more easily shot, or course!

That's not twisted logic. Defenseless people are indeed easier to murder.

@oralloy,
Eh smarty boy, tell that to your congress representatives. Explain to them that they absolutely MUST authorize guns on Capitol Hill, to avoid being murdered.

Also do take a gun with you if you ever board a airplane. You don't want to be easily murdered, do you?

When you get arrested, do explain to them judges that you need your guns in prison to defend your sexual integrity. Maybe they'll listen?

In short, it's another case of gun laws not actually controlling anything.

@edgarblythe,
What your wrote about gun shows was a lie. Go to a gun show and walk up to a booth and buy a gun without a background check or showing your ID. It won't happen because it is against the law.
