@oralloy,
You mean... gun regulations can coexist with freedom? Who would have thought? Smile

@Olivier5,
Of course. It all depends on whether or not the regulations allow people to freely have guns that are suitable for self defense.

In Australia and the UK, people are allowed to have guns only if they convince the government that they "need" a gun.

And people who manage to clear that hurdle are then only allowed to have a gun that can't shoot rapidly enough for adequate self defense.

France should ask themselves if Islam can.

The only way to stop incidents like this is to arm restroom attendants. Razz

Stoneman Douglas teacher arrested after leaving gun in public restroom, police say

Quote:
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- A chemistry teacher at the Florida school where 17 people were shot to death has been arrested. Authorities say he left a loaded gun in a public restroom, where a drunk homeless man picked it up and fired it.

No one was injured, but the teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is now charged with failing to safely store his weapon.

A Broward Sheriff's report says 43-year-old Sean Simpson, who carries a concealed weapons permit, left his Glock 9 mm in a restroom at the Deerfield Beach Pier on Sunday. He told deputies he was returning to get it when he heard a gunshot, and found the man holding the pistol.

@oralloy,
The NRA lost in Vermont. That's the point. They are a paper tiger.

People in the UK or Australia are free to chose their gun control laws. Americans aren't; they are slave and fodder to the gun lobby, that's all. Know your place.

Having delusions about a powerful opponent will lead you to a massive defeat.

Wrong. The gun lobby is the American people. Americans merely choose to remain free.

@Region Philbis,
Thanks for reminding me. I was going to reply to Cobbler but it slipped my mind.

Anyway, if kids are too young to buy a rifle that has a pistol grip, then they are also too young to vote.

Maybe these attendants can use paper bags to stand inside in the the stalls so no one sees their legs. I know some people have done things like that, even though it is not done to stop gun violence, but it could.

Are you familiar with this technique?

First you need a sheriff that hires those clowns and never bothers to train them. Try again.

@oralloy,
If it's possible to push back on the NRA in Vermont, it should be possible elsewhere.

@Olivier5,
A lot depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Bans on pistol grips are destined to be struck down by the courts, if they are passed at all.

Restrictions on magazine capacity will probably not be politically possible at the federal level or in rural western/southern states. Other states though might pass such restrictions.

Red flag legislation and more comprehensive background checks could well become law nationwide.

Actually progressive policies and money determined how many minors were arrested, the fewer arrested the more money from the federal government. Policies that reward bad behavior will never work. Not punishing people for what they do will not stop them from doing it.

This is not about people stopping crime, that is a job for the police. It is about stopping someone, by yourself, with no police, that is threatening your life.

Despite the numbers, it's not really a common event to have active shooters and there have been cases a plenty of shooters stopping shooters. In NYS I can't carry concealed because my county has an old man for a judge that doesn't believe in the 2nd amendment. Secondly, we have no defense to use because NYS laws have stripped so many rights away from people. Please don't tell me there isn't an effort to dislodge people's rights under the 2nd amendment because I live it every day.

Next, your argument is childish. Grow up.

If a good guy with a gun doesn't happen to be around to stop a crime, that is evidence that we don't have enough good guys carrying guns.
