I think that Obama picking Emanuel was a great bit of political astuteness. As a former executive, I understand the value of playing "good cop/bad cop". Obama can be all sweetness and light and charisma, with Emanuel acting as his hatchet man.
Like it or not, it is a very effective way to govern.
Oh boy, so what we need are more hatchet men? Crooked ones from Chicago too?
Believe me, phoenix, Obama can do no wrong, according to the main stream media. They will have an explanation as to why everything Obama does is absolutely brilliant and a stroke of genius. I will never forget the Clinton era, when it was brilliant to lie, he was so good at it, it was admirable, they complimented Clinton. Well, this will be the same thing, no matter how bad Obama screws up everything royally, or oversteps his authority, or blunders, it will be brilliant.
About the hatchet man routine, I read the same brilliant analysis, you are free to buy it, I don't. I interpret it to mean Emanuel is a very angry guy, with an axe to grind, he takes no prisoners, and Obama seems to gravitate to some of these people. I am concluding from this that Obama may govern alot differently than he campaigned. That Obama may maintain an image of sweetness and light, never ruffled, but underneath he is also an angry guy with a huge agenda, and he may take no prisoners in regard to enacting his agenda. After all, what has all this change been about, certainly not a tweaking of the laws, but he implies a complete overhaul of anything or everything.
