@shewolfnm,
Shewolf -- this image better be in one of your promotion books!

Joe -- my fingers continue to be crossed for you building on that batting average. Good luck!

Been very distracted this week. Work is, to say the least, a bit weird. People are trying to stay positive while they think about which end of the sinking ship to stand on. There will be hope for a longer period of dissolution followed by an almost immediate dashing of said hope followed by another, slightly less optimistic, but still hopeful, prediction......then you wait for the ride down the wave.

Sorry to hear that Joe.

Well, to clarify...NOT sorry to hear you are a strong swimmer....but the experience you describe is awful.

There is something about hanging a new piece of artwork on the walls of your own apartment that I had not noticed before now. Or maybe, I have forgotten what the experience was like from my long ago singlistic days.
I found, yes, in the trash room, a Monet print with a broken cover glass. (I can cut glass to any size.) I brought the new glass home, re-framed the picture and ...stood there trying to figure which of the blank walls needed it the most.
It is such a pleasure to come home and have it hanging there right by the bookshelf.

I have to hurry, there are three exhibits I need to see, Kandinsky @ the Guggenheim, O'Keefe over at the Whitney and the Monets have been redisplayed in all their glory at the Metropolitan. It takes me about a day to see a show. I take a lot of time, I get filled up. (Picasso I can only take in small bites, my head spins after 45 minutes then I have to rest before I can start looking again.)

@Joe Nation,
Do you mind writing about your visits to those exhibits? The one I'd most like to see is the Kandinsky. Natch, I read the reviews, which told me things I didn't know before about the relationship of the Guggenheim and Kandinsky paintings. (I've never been in it, walked by outside).
Have a good time, swimming in the paintings.

@Joe Nation,
Which Monet print is it? Monet gives such a calming ambiance doesn't he?
I love Claude Monet! Georgia O'Keeffe is more colorful (I'd love to have
a picture of her with the red poppies). Kandinsky, hm, not so my taste. He's
a bit the Russian equivalent to Catalan painter Joan Miro.
Regardless, enjoy yourself Joe and congratulations to the Monet!

@CalamityJane,
This framing bit can grow, y'know. I love to put stuff up on the walls - my hall is a wild walk. Oddly, I also like clean walls.... but in other people's places.
Maybe it's my gallery life, but I'm easy with moving stuff around or using the frame for something else. Since I've been in New Mexico, the big stuff is staying where I first put it - I must be getting lazier. There's a kind of stability to that too.

@ossobuco,
I like pictures on the walls too, osso. I'm not for bare walls at all, it gives me
the feeling of either moving in or out.

@CalamityJane,
True for me too. The minute a place is mine I'll tack something up, cave painting 101.

It's odd about some divorces. I have rue about mine somewhat in the way Joe Nation does about his. But.. I do like the freedom that comes with control of my own space after twenty some years of consulting each other on that.

I am a fan of bare-ish walls. But I am a HUGE color user. I do not necessarily need a lot on the walls because they are a deep base color with furniture to contrast. And if I do have something on the wall, it is more of an item then art.
Example. In my dark green living room, I will mount my beautiful old rusted English bayonet. Then i have a neat handmade wooden frame that I just put on the wall that has no photo in it. The frame is beautiful on its own. Then I have a really old 3 candle chandelier thing that I hang in front of a window. Thats about it. But with those few things, my entire place looks 'full' with out having something on every wall because they each attract attention , and the detail they own makes people pause and stare for a while.

Trying to take time
take some time
save some time
but
there is this
feeling
this
image in the back of my brain
of time flowing
falling
out of my hands
and into the sand.
Wet for a moment
then gone.
Breathe, they say.
Yes. I reply.
When I have the time.
