A great weekend, yes. I've even thought of a positive effect of the Red Sox losing to the Whoevers of Wherever, Florida. I will no longer (this year) have to struggle to stay awake, pinning my hopes and dreams on some swing of the bat. Ahhh.

I can't remember what the name of the team is from The Hague but I'm sure, compared to the Boston Red Sox, they stink on ice.

I talked to a very nice lawyer today, she seemed like she knew exactly what would need to be done. I still want to talk to several more but so far ... she's in the lead.

All you need is a blender and you have cold icy sweet stuff.

I buy a bag of some kind of frozen fruit once a week.
Pour that into the blender
Add about 1/4 cup of concentrated juice, OR 1 whole banana or apple
coffee creamer.. about 1/4 cup. Flavored is best. I use Silk brand french vanilla
and about 1/2 cup of milk

Blend.
Eat right away for a frozen smoothie effect
Or freeze for 'ice cream'

We have different shaped ice cream makers so sometimes it is ice pops, sometimes it is rockets, some times I just put it into an ice cube tray and she can take an ice cube ice cream and eat it.
Freaking yummy.

wanna get healthy, add some wheat grass, flax seed oil or something else adult to it.





(ppssstt... its good with vodka too. )

More homemade ice cream tips. Grab a ziploc bag of ice. Add salt (kosher salt is good). Don't fill it too much.

Take a second, smaller ziploc bag. Fill with puréed yummy stuff, whatever you want your ice cream to be. Bananas work really well. Extracts are also helpful.

Place smaller bag inside larger bag. Seal both bags well. Shake.

Toss in freezer for around 30 minutes, taking out every 10 or so to shake.

Serve. Keep the salty ice bag for future personal ice cream adventures.

I think it keeps it cold but not too cold. You don't want the stuff to freeze into a block -- you need it to have some play, otherwise it essentially ends up as a freeform popsicle.

I'd never heard the plastic bag thing before.. great idea there.

Says she who has coveted an expensive gelato maker since 1988 - and they only get more expensive. Huh, the gelato I sprung for about a month ago at the grocery store for some ridiculous cost like 4.59 a pint... was lameassfoofoo, an insult to real gelati, yeah. I know the ice bag deal won't work with gelato but I'm going to try it for simpler ice cream.

It's apparently a 4H trick -- they can make ice cream at state fairs. Not that I've been to a state fair in years. I think I saw it on Good Eats.

Has anyone else noticed that our simple lives are not? I murmured something about this divorce being simple to one of the potential lawyers (there are three, but one is way out front.)(Choice to made on Friday after my nap.), then we started discussing just the framework and I saw things were not so simple.

And I went to have my will changed. (The beneficiary will receive a lot of clothes that don't fit me and about enough money to see that I am properly strewn off the George Washington Bridge.) Of the three people I selected to 'pull the plug' if necessary, none of them live where they did seven years ago.

Gotta go.

Life is change, ya ya, but every now and again I'd be happy with a freeze-frame.

The girls in our school used to play a kind of baseball, which they called rounders.
They hit the ball, or missed it, then ran around.

No chance of that game catching on.

Much better to have the batters run back and forth after trying to hit a BOUNCED pitched ball. (Oh, I know! Let's set up about three dowels with a bit of wood stuck between them, if the fellow tossing manages to hit those sticks something should happen. But not to both the thrower and the batsman.)
