That, and Strasbourg, are places I would like to visit.
Good restaurants I hear.
Pity the £ is so feeble now.

@McTag,
I really don't feel bad for you, mate. You have to first understand what happened to the US dollar against the British pound and the Euro to really appreciate how those of us living across the pond "really" feels about your "so feeble" statement. LOL

@cicerone imposter,
Listen, when I was a boy a "half a dollar" in local slang was 2/6d (aka a half-crown), that's two shillings and sixpence, which means that five shillings were a dollar then, and there were twenty shillings in a pound.

Four dollars to the pound? I'd settle for that now! Smile

@McTag,
$4 to the pound? That means you'll be visiting the US again, but it also means I'll be restricted from visiting the UK. I'm pretty lucky that I've already seen some of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Tourism for Americans to the UK will die for sure.

@Izzie,
Definitely coco.
Speaking of which, I was looking for something to eat for dessert last night and discovered my little cache of hot chocolate things IZ sent. BUT I wanted cold. What to do? I chopped up a banana fairly fine and sprinkled the powder over it. Then I added 1/4 cup of really hot water.
Into the freezer went the bowl for about 30 minutes.
Voila. Chocolate banana icy stuff.

My brother the priest is coming to stay with me tonight so I am racing around this morning picking up. (I'm sure he has other places to stay in the City, so this must be the family making sure that I haven't become a newspaper hoarder or have covered the walls with pornographic posters and a big voodoo doll stuck full of pins of you-know-who.)
He asked me if I knew where the nearest Catholic Church was.
That was an awkward silence, then I remembered. (A miracle of some kind.)

No dancing tonight. Very formal, patters of applause, nods and smiles -- all for an immense amount of work done. Please pass the caviar appetizers.

It's been a good week. I called seven lawyers and only one, who's retainer is $25,000, was out of my league. Now to pick one.

You should ask around for some recommendation for a good family lawyer,
surely you must have some friends who are divorced and had good council
representing them. It's better than just picking one from the yellow pages.

@Izzie,
Did run today, I got up about 6:30 and headed out in the freezing, okay, not freezing, but still cold 42F with a stiff Northern wind. Ran through Ft. Tryon Park and down the river about eight miles.

Got back to the apartment and waited for brother to return from Mass, then we went to breakfast. I put him on the subway to head home to Connecticut and I went over the river to to New Jersey to spend the day with my best friend, Annie. We gaped our way through art galleries, took a long walk by the Hudson and had a great late lunch. The trees are just getting some real color here now. I walked back over the George Washington Bridge. WHAT A view!

Yes.
But, it's been an odd process. The lawyers in our family (2) are both financial wizards, need a 600 page contract? Here yah go! but they don't even know any matrimonial lawyers. Neither do the lawyers I use to do the Co-op's property work, the two recommendations I got from them turned out to be 1) retired and 2) not a divorce lawyer. The one divorce specialist (with the $25,000 retainer) was offered by a customer of mine. I did talk to one other lawyer, her hourly rate is $450. I figure four to five hours of work for her which will probably end up being more like ten hours.
(There goes that European vacation unless I find someone competent at between $250-and-300 per)

'Twas a great evening last evening. Jeffery Sachs spoke about the world's financial condition and the changes that will take place around the planet in the next few years. He also said he had spoken recently with a Professor Emeritus at Harvard who said he had seen thousands of students go through the University over the years and that Barack Obama was not the smartest of them.

He said Obama was third smartest and that smarts are what we are going to need in the future.

Odds are, the first two weren't interested in politics...which means we're damned lucky.

Sounds like you had a really good weekend, Joe. Cool
