@devriesj,
BTW, Joe, I know you're just getting it out, but your poetry is beautiful. It's a gift. Wish I could write like that, really honest & straight from the heart.

This band is single-handedly responsible for the tragic sequin shortage we suffer today. But shake it anyway.

Well, I hope you are all happy now. I had "Dancing in the Streets" playing in my head all through my afternoon run. AND then, in the middle of the night... . I had to get up, find my MP3 player, tune in the radio to the symphonic station just to get the 4/4 time out of my head.

Yesterday, I put up the shelf and clothesrod in the closet and painted it all up. It felt very good to get that about done.
Next, I have three large boxes.
I am going to try on all my clothes.
There's going to be some happy people down at Goodwill Industries. (That's a charity for all you out-of-the-USA-folks.)

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

@Joe Nation,
If you have a male friend who's also losing weight, perhaps you can do some clothing swapping. I've been doing that -- I've got a friend who's smaller than me and one who's heavier, so I get some clothes from T__ and when I'm done with them they go to E__. Plus lots goes to Goodwill; it's the best stuff, like job interview wear and the like, that we pass around.

@jespah,
They're also why musicians just stand around when they play nowadays. KC and the band bankrupt the collective energy well of the music industry for decades to come.

@jespah,
Swapping clothes, jespah, I know it's done everyday by women. Every woman I have ever known has had some section in their closet of clothes that they have borrowed from a friend. (I'm going to wear Milly's black dress and Katie's espadrilles!!) Men, ahem, don't engage in such practices. At least, not any of the couple of thousand men I've met going through life. Ah, women. So much schmarter!

IZ! Your dancing feet made my head spin this morning. I will have this smile on my face through my whole day.

@Joe Nation,
Swapping clothes? Kramer wants to borrow Seinfeld's swimming trunks. Jerry's response: "I don't want your boys down there."

@Joe Nation,
Funny, I've never borrowed clothes, nor have any of my friends ever asked. Confused (Not since college, anyway.)

And if they did ask, I'd say no. That would be really weird.

Maybe it's more common among women that live together. Yeah, that's probably it.

@Eva,
Decades ago, I was asked to go to a movie premier, back when those were fancy events. A friend said she'd lend me her fur jacket, uh, rabbit fur (awaits Dlowan's pelting, no, I mean, awaits Dlowan's wrath). She had bought it in India in one of her trips as a Pan Am stewardess.

When I was graciously and fairly daintily helped out of the limousine in front of the theater, both sleeves ripped halfway out of the armholes by my simple stretching movement. Luckily, the movie, a remake of Lost Horizon, was a total dud and the breezey sleeves were just one more memory. Let that be a lesson, re rabbits and borrowing.

@ossobuco,
Yipe!

I haven't borrowed clothes since, geesh, college had to have been the last of it. (I remember one day my best friend and I admired each others' outfits and then swapped 'em for the rest of the day. We were each kind of tired of our own.) (And I had a roommate who borrowed WITHOUT ASKING. Made me insane.)

I do give away clothes though, which is what I think Jes is talking about. In L.A., for example, I'd do regular closet purgings and would bring the nicer stuff to my center in case any of my clients wanted something. Like, if I had three black skirts, I'd give the third (perfectly nice but superfluous) to a client who was in need of an interview outfit.

Haven't been the recipient as often but I have once or twice -- more often than I've borrowed clothes in my post-college life, anyway.

@sozobe,
I only borrow from my mom and she from me. Somehow that comes naturally. Otherwise I might inherit something when a friend marks clothes for summary execution and I like them and vice versa, although I usually wear my clothes into the ground and they die a happy death after a long life full of bike grease and bleach in the recycling center or as rags.

@sozobe,
Yep, I'm talking about giving clothes away. With any luck (and a lot of determination) I'll never be my last three sizes again, but there's no sense that perfectly good clothes can't clothe someone doing the same.
