My guess is, its because she's an intelligent, outspoken, sucessfull, assertive and independent-thinking black woman, and some folks just can't handle that.

I bet she can even spell successful correctly

Very likely she can also look up the author of this inane "we white people" locution and discover he's a comedian of central Asiatic background.

Wow, what a relief!

I'm glad to he is of central Asiatic background and not of southwestern Asiatic background.

Thanks for the background check.

Ethnicity and geography only occasionaly overlap, H2O. The Turkic peoples are spread out from Siberia to the Black Sea - and don't generally count as "white".

In the case of this comedian, his name and presumed ancestry coincide:

You can get Internet access in any public library.

Well, I don't know exactly how you jibe Jackie-O with "outspoken" or "assertive", or "independent-thinking", but I know what you mean.

I would disagree with Jackie with a tan. Michele is a unique woman but I would include obnoxious and unfriendly. Just my impression from what I have seen of her on tv and computer.

Yeah, I know that. It isn't wealth that makes one an elitist; it is one's attitude.

And yet all of your arguments suggest otherwise.

You repeatedly advance the notion that the very rich Obamas are, somehow, more in tune with the Common Man than the very very rich McCains.

Obama and his wife are elitists and members of an elite class. McCain and his wife are members of an elite class.

You have that backwards; McCain and his wife are elitists, Obama and his wife, not so much.

It's not only found in the personal attitudes of the McCains, but their comments, their dozen or so houses, their penchant for abusing tax payments and credit cards.

I can agree that for some people that could be the reason. Some people just like the role of Butterfly McQueen and her famous line, "Ah knows nothin' about birthin' babies."

Who says there is no time travel. Some people live in a time warp.

But others might not like her for any number of reasons, none relating to her being Black, including possibly just jealousy of her success as a "woman" (career, husband, children).

I don't like labels, but I am an Irish American woman with red hair and blue eyes, and I admire Michele Obama. I refuse to pick on McCains wife and call her a pampered heiress (crap it sounds like I did), but Cindy McCain will not be a player in a McCain (gasp) presidency any more than Michele Obama will in an Obama presidency. If anyone assumes that political wives don't have a say or have their opinions sought by their husbands, I have a bridge to sell. Michele strikes me as incredibly bright and insightful, don't know much about Cindy, maybe she would be of use as well. The big difference is that Cindy would be propping up a tired and angry McCain and Michele would be helping an energetic and hope-filled Obama.

If you do not like labels you need not use them. Also, are you really saying you are American of Irish descent with red hair and blue eyes?

This use of "hyphens" is really inaccurate, in my opinion. We are all American, with a specific, or multitude, of descents. I believe "ethnics" are doing a disservice to themselves by using the "hyphen," since WASPs do not use a hyphen. Why should any other American use a hyphen?

Also, Americans of Scottish descent also have a frequency of red hair and blue eyes. Perhaps, American of Celtic descent would have covered all bases?

A fair point. I correct myself as follows: Michelle Obama is Elanore Roosevelt with Jacqueline Kennedy looks and a tan. That's three counts against her right there.
