Nimh -- It wasn't your English (which is damn near perfect) it was your pure aptness of phrasing (frasing?). The fallacies of the Bush administration really are, psychologically, phallacies.

This war certainly has no balance or symmetry. I wish when politicians contrive rhetoric they would stay completely away from such words. It's only used to divert. Just what is a symmetrical war? Maybe they meant this is an askew war.

Try this, LW. An asymmetric war is one in which a large, well-equipped army goes in after an almost non-existent force, and claims brilliant victory. Of all things which will hang this administration, I'm beginning to believe that rhetoric may turn out to be the surprise.

Phallacy is one of the best things to come along.

Mamajuana' quote--
Quote:
Sofia, I disagree with you heartily. We were attacked on 9/11. I watched the towers get hit, watched them crumble, watched bodies flying out of windows - it was horrible. But, we were not the targets of a war. As a matter of fact, except for the area around the event, what else was affected?
You must be kidding. How about the economy, and the civil liberties of Americans, who now suffer reduced security and the resulting increased freedoms of law enforcement for a start. And, for me--to say it was NY's problem is callous. When any piece of this country is attacked, most Americans feel we were all attacked.
And by rights we should have gone after the Saudis immediately - we knew from the start that the major force was the Saudi part. Instead, we delared war on a country, and we are reaping what we sowed. Here is an article, reprinted from the Washington Post, that should scare you.
Not only does that article not scare me, it makes me feel much better. I had read it yestarday, and was going to bring it myself to prove that instead of focusing on more direct assaults on the US, al-Quaida and related terrorists are streaming into Iraq, where our army can fight them, rather than our citizens, becoming their victims.
because we have created a monster. We have turned Iraq into the birthplace of a nation of terrorists. And this is one message that was repeated over and over again by people who were experienced and knowledgeale in the field. But what we had was a bunch of amateurs with a macho attitude. And they sold you down the river. You will be paying for this for a long time.
Terrorism thrived undeterred previous to 911. The article you provided is proof that their network, and ability to attack the US has been severely hampered. They are gathering in a place, where our army is ready for them. The mere fact that they are gathering in a definable position makes the job of eradicating them much less difficult.

I would rather fight them in this manner, than leave them strong and well-hidden.

Palestine wages assymetrical war against Israel.
The Irish wage assymetrical war against Britain.
Al-Quaida wages assymetrical war against the US.
McVeigh performed an assymetrical strike, an act of war, against the US government.
Terrorism is assymetrical war.

Terrorism is "asymetrical," Sofia, of course (if one must use that distancing term). We have the will and the means to fight it on home ground -- and with far better intelligence moves overseas -- and not make others the victims of our rage. Time to grow up.

This assymetrical warfare is non sensical. Its warfare, killing people in large or small numbers. Did al Qaida wage assymetrical war against New York?

What exactly would a "symmetrical" war look like?

Chess?

Risk?

I believe 'symmetrical war' is a phallacy.

The one on the left is attempting to explain something to the one on the right, who refuses to listen or even look at his counterpart and instead continues babbling.

Aliens don't have lips.

Neither do the heads on Easter Island.

My avatar(s), on the other hand, has full luscious bee-stung Angelina Jolie kissable lips.

Thus your confusion.

No tongues, though, so they ain't Frenchin' nothin'.
