Poor child- I mean Bi Polar. He is suffering under the delusion that these posts are "love ins".
I am sorry that Bi Polar has to come to these posts to find and hold "friends". I wouldn's sit down for a drink with more than five or six of all of the people on these posts.

I do not write on these posts to be "liked". That's for losers. I write to give my opinion. I do not osculate anuses or polish apples to be "liked".

Poor Bi Polar!!!

I know some sites where you can get some real "friends" Bi Polar. Just be informed that I wouldn't go anywhere near a place where you were sitting. I am very careful to guard my health.

Well.Joe from Chicago. What do you know about my "smartness" or fund of "information".

I do know about yours.

You were forced to go to a law school which is far inferior to Yale or Harvard. What's the matter wasn't your GPA or LSAT high enough?
You know what Michigan Law School is called in the Ivy League don't you?

A fall back school.

Furthermore, I graduated from a school which would never let you in. The University of Chicago.

If you are so smart, show me, Joe. You don't show me much. Show me. I can wipe you out any time I feel like it.

Consider your self challenged. You said once when reviewing mycomment concerning Coulter's comment- I love a challenge. Consider yourself challenged.

PS. I don't debate with any one who can't give links and evidence. So get ready to do reseach or else, get lost.

By the way, Bi Polar, How are things in North Carolina? What are they going to do now that Edwards has given up his Senate seat to concentrate on the Presidential Race. You may very well have two Republican Senators in NC.

Good luck!!!!!!

I doubt that you could find one individual on a2k who would be willing to have a drink with you. In fact with your attitude I doubt that such an individual exists anywhere.
After having read your posts these past weeks I believe to you goes the honor of being the most obnoxious poster of the year.

Well that hurts Italgato...I thought we were on our way towards a dialog.....I come on and post in a sincere spirit of camaraderie and you spit in my eye....I hope my fragile self esteem will survive your injurious and painful tongue lashing.

Can I get any hugs from some other A2K members please? Not sexual hugs of course, just the kind that loving women and real men give one another. I need to find my center.

I'm going to brew some Earl Gray and camomile now if anyone would like to join me. So soothing.

It is clear to me that Mr. Italgato fancies disparagement and disputatiousness over discourse and debate. I am very much afraid Mr. Italgato misunderstands the purpose and nature of these forums. I very much suspect Mr. Italgato's participation here provides him an outlet unavailable to him in the real world, where behavior on his part such as that he displays here would more likely land him in the Emergency Room than provide him a coterie of drinking buddies.

So why is he still here? If the rest of us acted like that we would be tossed! As it is he's hijacked nearly every active thread over the last few days.

Italgato,

Your last several posts (and others too) reveal an extraordinarily intense appetite or need for self-validation. It might be worth your while to consider what might be the source of that, and how it might be affecting your life.

Bi Polar Bear went well out of his way to reach you, and did so with grace and tact. Your response was spiteful and foolish. In general your views on the subjects discussed here are much closer to mine than are his. However if I had to choose only one of you for continued dialogue it would be him. Why? Because you have become a general pain in the ass.

Given all the discussion here about unemployment, the decline of manufacturing, public debt and the rest, it might be useful to consider the facts that both unemployment and public debt in the United States are lower by a wide margin than they are among any of the other principal economies in the world, including all of the major European powers and Japan.

Similarly, while all of the advanced economies of the world are witnessing the flight of manufacturing jobs to lower cost economies, the United States is leading the world, both absolutely and relatively in the production and export of the higher value added design, technology and creative innovations that have replaced manufacturing as the key source of material progress in the world economy.

I agree that the major industrial nations are in the same boat so to speak as the US is. However, the solution to the dilemma is not in pointing out that other economies are in worse shape than ours. I wonder if other economies are strapped with the deficits that the US is.

georgebob isn't that like saying that if we are the people in the cancer ward with the least amount of cancer that our sense of urgency to treat it need not be as high as the other patients on the ward who are sicker than we are?

george, I think misapprehension of those facts, a disconnect between preferred perception and observed phenomena, is core to the declining elevance of The American Left. There are issues from which The Left could mount substantive challenge to The Right. The Left, however, fails to recognize and engage the real issues, The Left wrapping its growing failure to influence The Electorate in the excuse of conspiracy directed against them. Denial is not an effective strategy, nor is whining effective debate. The Left has structured its own decline, and in confusing partisan, activist outrage with genuine public sentiment do nothing but accellerate that decline.

Most of The Industrialized World would be happy to trade their economic development and deficit status for that of the US. The deficits of both France and Germany are in violation of EU requirements, neither economy exhibits any expansion, and the unemployment rates for both are far higher than that of the US.

au1929,

I pointed these facts out not to suggest that the world economy is in grave trouble - I don't think that is the case, but rather to show that many of the current concerns about unemployment and the deficit are both shortsighted and sometimes politically motivated.

By the standards of the past fifty years, unemployment in the United States is rather low. Indeed we are recovering from one of the mildest post-boom recessions in the last century and are experiencing the lowest unemployment yet recorded during such an economic cycle. Moreover our recession, recovery, and unemployment are better overall than those of the other major world economies that are all experiencing much the same macroeconomic trends.

Similarly, while current deficits are high they are proceeding from a level of public debt (as a % of GDP) that is very low, both by our historical standards and compared to those in other developed countries. We have every reason to expect that the unfolding growth in the economy (and resultant tax collections) will wipe out the deficits, just as they did in the 1986 - 1992 period.

timber you're a smart guy, pretend you're an ardent "leftist" whatever the hell that means and outline the lefts change in strategy to become effective to the electorate in influencing and getting it's point across.

I'm not being my usual wise ass, I'm interested in your view.

No, you clearly don't.

When will you understand, gato, that you can't insult me by denigrating my alma mater, my LSAT scores, or my GPA. You may have an obsessive interest in these external marks of academic achievement, but I don't.

I thought that was Brown.

Strictly speaking the answer is yes. However I believe the metaphor would be more accurate if you deleted cancer ward and replaced it with outpatient clinic for sniffles and head colds.

Again, I believe that, relative both to our historical standards and to the contemporary standards of other large economies experiencing similar economic cycles, we are doing quite well. That certainly is no consolation to one who has lost his job, however, it is significant when one considers whether we should change course.
