c.i., the surface of a flowing stream changes with the passage of the water. The streambed itself is far more constant, whether in flood or drought.

Is this indicative of a lack of job opportunities in anything other than the service fields as the new face of American labour? With the rampant removal of jobs in anything other than the Starbucks/Wal-Mart sector from US shores, are we seeing the demise of the American economy?

hobit, Makes many of us wonder what our future holds when many of our jobs are being exported to China and India. When many of our college grads have difficulty finding jobs, it means to me, at least, that jobs are shrinking at an alarming rate. Since I don't have real statistics, only anecdotal info, I might be wrong.

There's always the Army. An economist friend of mine refers to the current situation as the formative years of a new Capitalist-Feudal system. Sad

Cicerone- Is it a cheap shot? If it is I will withdraw it but I must tell you that I have been asked to give links to my posts.

I guess if I have to give links, all should give links, correct?

Or do we have some kind of Political Correctness existing here which I am not aware of?

It amazes me that one who so highly praises himself on the importance of accuracy and factual references would have such a tough time spelling member names correctly.

How can any facts offered have any amount of creditability when the author is so negligent in reviewing and correcting his errors?

Italgato it is unfortunately a human frailty that we are easier on people we like than people we do not and although even the fairest among us, and I don't claim to be one of those, attempt to apply the rules objectively to one and all we fail at that standard and tend to ignore the failings of people we like like cicerone and amplify the failings and negative aspects of people we don't like.

The plain truth is that most everyone likes Cicerone and dislikes you.

It is doubtful that this can change because you do not wish to change your MO towards others or your abrasive holier than thou style and attitude. It seems to be ingrained in you. Therefore you will probably always be judged in a less fair manner than those people who are liked and respected.

It's too bad really, because no one can deny you're a smart and informed guy, but that does not seem to balance out all of your other characteristics.

I say these things not to badger or be hurtful, but in the spirit of tough love and constructive criticism.

Now me, I'm just an idiot, as you've reminded me many times, so no one really cuts me up too badly. Ignorance may be bliss after all. Very Happy

Assuming the repeated query was inadvertant, I deleted one. Just a tech note; repeatedly clicking "submit", thinking the page has hungup or stalled, often results in duplicate posts. Often what has happened is not that the submission dod not go through, but that for whatever reason, your browser did not get the confirmation page. If in doubt, copy your post to clipboard, then navigate to "View my Posts" and look to see if your latest reply in fact appears. Usually, it will be there. If not, paste it in and resubmit.
