ooooo.....I love all those colors....all those jewel tones....butterflys, saris, parakeets and stones.

Makes me feel peaceful just thinking about it.

I can't remember details but my dream involved irregular, bulky, uncooperative sheets of maroon felt--a very scratchy, unpleasant felt.

Yes, I think so.

(I loved that book, by the way).

I dreamed that I was ice-skating on the reservoir across the street from my house (as I have been the past three days since the ice has finally frozen solid enough). Anyway- it was a very cold and windy day, and absolutely silent except for the sounds of my skate blades on the ice and the occasional sounds coming from the water moving under the ice and the ice shifting. And I felt very happy to be doing what I was doing, to be where I was and to be all by myself.
And then I was viewing the sky from underneath the ice-I wasn't cold or wet or terrified- I was just viewing the sky and I knew that I was underneath the ice- because it was totally silent.
And I felt completely at peace- and thought that if I could die at that moment with that view - I'd be fine.

strange...
I was struggling to get dressed for an appointment in a strange gay man's apartment. I couldn't find the right shoes, couldn't find my makeup sponge and he was tired and wanted me out but of course I couldn't leave until I'd finished dressing.
I don't have a clue what it could mean. Rolling Eyes

I dreamed I was trying to download this huge mapping program.

I had to keep making marks on a yardstick as it installed.

It took forever.

It didn't work.

I have one (huge mapping program). It cost $400. It works but has no yardstick.

I was in an airport, trying to dismantle a large (two story) arrangement of artificial flowers. I had only a short ladder and I was on crutches.

This was one of those epics.
First I was at a house with a lot of people. There was some problem with a car which I went out to try to fix but ended up just driving down a highway.
Then, somehow back in the same room, my boss asked me to download a file of inventory but when I printed it out it was a mao. (maps again) I couldn't figure what the map was showing at first, but then I figured out that it was a map of the top of Greenland.

There was writing on the map indicating someone had walked along the top of a ridge to the top. There were notes about injuries and how many pills the walker had taken. These were written right on the ridge line.

I found myself back in the car going to a JC Penney(?) where I thought there might be an ATM. A girl followed me around the store because I looked so confused. I asked her where the ATM was and she pointed and left.... and I was outside, on a ridge in Greenland. I stopped at a guidepost for a moment and then started walking, looking for the ATM

When I found it I was horrified to find that my phone and wallet were missing. I ran back to the guide post and there they were. My wallet was open but the little money I had had in was still there.

I woke up and immediately wondered where my phone and wallet were.

I dreamed Madonna and I were teenagers, and we were friends. We were reading some sort of comic book together. It was a comedy, like Archie, but it was named some adjective and a man's name, like (this wasn't it, I'm just giving a sample) Noble Marvin.

I suspect I was given material girl's dream instead of mine. I wonder if she got mine?

You know it's a dream when your cats are behaving perfectly. They stop running down the hall when your wife says the words "Ink Pen". They come right away when called and they do not beg.

Fish Dream (protein, y'know)

I woke up early this morning and picked up the New Yorker article on the Scientology Celebrity Center that I started reading yesterday evening. But I dozed off again, to find myself at an event with table of design students and a few of us who were either teachers or judges of the presentations.
But then, the table was full of scientologists, and I couldn't find my brown shoes.
I did have my black pumps on (odd in itself).
Turned out a guy across the table and down away was waving my brown shoes.
I fingered the items in my right hand, something like a stack of photo slides, but then they turned into dried fish scales.
I got up to go get the brown shoes from the guy, but he disappeared. Since I was already wearing shoes, I decided to just leave, but couldn't find the front door.
I found myself in a large entry hall with a cascade of steps leading to a woman who seemed to be requesting I go to a seminar, but being hard of hearing (this is true) I couldn't tell what she was saying.
There was a waiter mid-staircase and I asked him if he could tell me what she was saying.
He told me about his sister and her problems. I nodded and looked around, found the door, walked out and woke up.

Started reading the Scientology article again.. wherein the waiters at the scientology restaurant were described. The cartoon on one of the article pages was about two fish, one saying to the other, "It's my day with the kids", that fish being followed by a whole school.

Dreamt I was going to play cards with 3 other people.

There was no table, no chairs.

The dealer (who it seems was not one of the players, his job was just to deal)

I didn't know what card game we were supposed to start playing, but somehow I decided it must be poker.

But, the dealer kept giving out cards, sometimes 2 at a time to some people, 3 at a time to others.

When I had either 5 or 7 cards, I realized I was holding an awful lot of aces. I was trying to sort the cards in my hand, the dealer kept coming around to try to give me more, which I didn't want, but didn't know how to tell him to stop.

I wanted to just hold on to all these aces, but the game kept going on. Everyone else seems to be able to organize their cards quickly, and kept playing.

I knew I would win with my hand (I'm sure I was holding at least 15 cards at the time and had 7 or 8 aces), but didn't know how to tell the dealer I wanted to show everyone my cards.

Actually, that's pretty close to my understanding of how poker is played anyway.

*******

The part of the dream where everyone else was so much quicker and more organized was definately a memory from childhood.

Someone had given me that game "Hands Down", where when you matched 3 or more cards you slapped this plastic had that was on your section of the board. I think that gave you the option to move your man or something.
I played just once. My brothers (older) dealt the cards and I was trying to put them in some order, when one of them slapped their plastic hand.....that happened about a dozen times in a row, and I was really frustrated, because I couldn't understand how you were supposed to look at your cards, get them in order and study them to see if you had any matches, before someone else did.

I remember bursting into tears and saying "No one's giving me a chance to get ready to slap the hand!!!"

Wow....slam-o-matic.

Chai: I think your understanding of poker needs to be refined. Please travel to New York City soon. Kicky and I will sit down with you and patiently show you the elements of the game. I'm sure with your natural sense of style and wit, you'll be stacking up the winning chips and showing us a thing or two.
