Yet another Red Sox dream (I read too many of their blogs, I think).

Curt Schilling and I were in bed together, but we were not having sex, just kinda cuddling and enjoying each other's company. Neither of us were naked and Curt was not in uniform or wearing a hat or anything, just a tee shirt and shorts, I think. Then it got warmer and we were facing each other and smiling. We kissed a few times, close-mouthed. It was starting to go further (he came closer and had his hands around my waist) when I cautioned him that we had to stop because RP was in the next room and would hear us.

That's when I woke up. Next to RP. Far as I know, Curt slept next to Shonda last night. Hmm.

Last night I dreamed that my sister and I were driving in an old van I used to have- but we were the ages that we are now. I was the driver and I'd noticed smoke coming out of the hood of the car, over by the left headlight, but had ignored it for many miles without saying anything to my sister at all (she's always been the more careful, more responsible of us- older than me and to this day bosses me around) so I knew she'd make us stop and I wanted to take our chances and get there- wherever we were going- and just get it fixed when we stopped.

Well, I suddenly noticed a little flame coming out of the hood of the car- so I had to stop. We were outside of this little kind of bodega- I think we were in Mexico. We were both really hungry. We went inside-and though all the packaged food was labeled in Spanish- there was a deli counter and Laura got a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. I wanted a candy bar - but there was absolutely nothing chocolate to be had - so I got cherry twizzlers and a soft, salted pretzel. In my dream, I was thinking - 'Jeez- this is awesome- why have I never thought of this combination before?'

And that was the end of the dream. I don't know what happened to the van.

I can remember only a snippet of a very involved dream.

A teenager was explaining to me that "they" had to do graffiti because no one would give them paint for a mural.

I was in a somewhat futuristic department store and wanted to get out. I started climbing stairs and they became narrower as I went up flights. I finally got to the second-last flight and saw that the topmost one was a metallic ladder. There was no way I was going to go up that.

So I turned back, only to find a desk at waist level right in front of me. I got on top of it and started to scoot a little on my butt to try to get away from the ladder, but the edge of the desk (where I was scooting) was directly adjacent to the stairwell and so if I leaned too far to my left I would have fallen down the very steep stairwell. Therefore I went slowly.

Then I saw someone from work. He helped me off the desk but scolded me, telling me that it was someone's desk and I shouldn't do that. He then showed me pictures of various children and said that this one had a brain injury and that one had a disease and it was all horrible; they all had major problems. He led me over to the next doorway to go down the stairs and there was a child sitting at a small wooden desk next to the doorway (the child and the desk had not been there before). The child was coloring, and I recognized him as being the one with the brain injury. My coworker confirmed this, and then I woke up.

It's mostly a blurr, but I remember thinking in my dream about how quickly I've gotten older. I was thinking back to when I was younger.

I was at a nursery, explaining that I didn't want a Christmas tree--I wanted at least a dozen mature blue spruce trees for a windbreak.

I dreamed I was asleep.
(Isn't there a name for that?)
In the dream I am having trouble sleeping because I am in a room surrounded by snorers. I wake up in the dream and cannot remember what day of the weeek it is. I don't know if I can go back to sleep or if I need to wake up.
Then I really did wake up

Joe(and it took me a minute to figure out today is Friday.)Nation

Then I went back to sleep and I was in a mall (Columbus Circle??) and this man on crutchs asked me where something was I and I said "downstairs" and he was really angry because he had just climbed up the stairs and you could see by the way he moved it was very difficult for him to move and
(Wait. I am typing like a teenager.)
he was even angrier when I asked him if he was afraid to ride the elevator.
We went down in the elevator with the rest of his family, two grown men and some loud children.
He was yelling at them.
Then I remembered that I was supposed to be teaching a class.
So I took them to the classroom and had them sit in the back.

The name of the class was "What's so Funny?"
I was supposed to be talking about how to write humor but I overheard one student making fun of me and the class.
That made me angry and I started in on him.
I said "What's so funny is that you have never had a job, have you?"
"All these other students," I said, "have to work for what they have, but you don't have a job, do you?"
He was a preppie looking kid and he just smirked.
Everyone knew I was right about him.
(um) (And then)
I went out to my car in the mall parking lot.
I remembered that we only had one car and that I was supposed to wait for my wife to finish shopping.
I was sitting in the front passenger seat when suddenly this black girl climbed into the back seat and laid down. She wasn't naked or anything, she was just spread out some.
I told her she had to leave.
I was worried my wife would come back and she would still be there.
Suddenly a black guy came to the driver's side of the car.
I remembered that the mall was in kind of a tough neighborhood.
"We are trying to do a little business here" said the black girl.
I reached over and locked the driver's side door.
"No, we are not." I said.

And that was when the guy started pissing on my car.
The sound of it was soft at first but it got louder until it sounded as if he was using a garden hose.

My thoughts were reeling.
Should I get out of the car?
The guy looks tough.
What about the girl?

I got out of the car and suddenly everyone, including me, was running somewhere away from something, but I don't know what.
I got to a long highway with some other people but I told them not to cross because there was a parade coming.

The parade was coming from both directions.

A little child ran out into the street.
Everybody yelled at him.
Suddenly there was a wild bull and it was goring the little boy but he had changed into a little dog with specked black and white fur.
Someone said "That's it for him."
The dog didn't move anymore but there was no blood.
A young man was trying to help an older man remove a sword from his chest.
The younger man said "The problem is it's in too close to the vein"
Then the dream changed again.

I was sitting at home and looking at a cartoon from the New Yorker.
Suddenly every cartoon I've ever seen started flashing by.
Hundred and hundreds of them.
Some I could see long enough to read part of the words.

In this dream, I somehow knew I was in Wisconsin.

I had to walk down to a group of buildings and go in each one to give whoever was there an important message.

I walked in the first building, and realized it was a funeral palour.

However, it was set up just like a furniture store, with couches, tables, beds etc. on display.

Making my way toward the back, I see that every single bed had a dearly departed tucked in it, and all the couches the same. Family members sat around the bed and couches in easy chairs. No one was talking, and they didn't find it unusual to have so many other bodies within sight.

I found the owner in the back, where customer service would be, and mentioned I had never seen anything like this.

"Really?" he said, "This is how all the funeral parlours are doing it now."

yeah actually, I do.

When I first woke up, I was clear on why I dreamt that, but of course now I have no idea.

I didn't find it horrible or anything about all the bodies. I was more thinking "man, they really try to get a lot of mileage out of their floor space."

I think the idea I was in Wisconsin had something to do with it.

I lived there on 2 separate occassions, probably for a little over a year total....over 2 freaking winters mind you.

You don't know what cold is....

Anyway, all due respect to those from WI, but I could never connect with people there. It like, wasn't ethnic enough for me...too Mid West...hard to explain, plus I was in a miserable marriage.

This dream kinda tapped into that. Why a funeral palor combined with a furniture store? And the way no one thought that was odd.

That how people there were....I lived there during the Jeffrey Dahlmer trial, and although people were upset, it was nothing like the blast of emotions if I was in NJ, or Fla.

You know..."Oy! He was eating that poor fagila? Is that kosher?
or
Entire families taking headcounts nightly to all relatives within a hundred miles to ensure everyone was accounted for. "Nicky, pick up the phone Nicky, it's your mother. Nicky, are you home?.....(hand covering phone....Ed Nicky's not answering, go over there and find out)....Nicky, your fathers on his way over there."

I just had a couple of dreams just before waking where as soon as my eyes opened I thought of this thread.

I got up, went to the bathroom and headed down to the computer. Halfway down the stairs I realized I had forgotten them.

Man! They were good ones, too. I hate when that happens.

I've had some vivid dreams lately!

One was set at an old barn in that cusp between spring and summer. Grass was still lush and green, but the sunlight was a rich yellow. The barn was huge and set about 100 feet from an old house which didn't feature in the dream. The trees were tall and there was just land around - no houses. There was a dirt path that led up to the barn between the yard and a row of trees.

And there was a car. An emerald green old, boaty, finned-sided convertible. ha! It was gorgeous! It was driven in by TheEx. He was with some friends. He and I chatted for a while. That part was sort of pleasant. The car was parked next to the old brownish, rough-wood barn - the contrast was stunning. TheEx wanted to get back together, I said no. But, when he left, he left the car.

I woke and thought - was that finally it? Was That finally the last thread to snap? After 10 years?

Second dream: I was with my sisters' family (her and her husband, kids) at a marine park. It was bustling, little dinghies ferrying people to bigger boats, bigger boats zipping around just as fast. It was a mad house. There were cafe boats for lunch and even bigger boats that were leaving the marina to the open water. At one point we zipped up to a cafe boat and the dinghy driver launched the boat sideways into an open doorway to get us on the boat.

There were whales too. Stubby, blunt creatures one finds on the ancient maps made before and just after the new world was found by the Europeans. Stumpy squat tails like cigar butts. But also scars from propellers and fishing lines. Below the surface there were reefs. They had been cut into blocks to allow the passage of boats and were quite dead.

Cars, ships.... all vehicles that usually signify change.

The Ex... not sure if he finally really left - he left behind the car... so somethin IS left behind of him.

I, too had a dream - I think it was because we watched LOTR till 3am and then slept late- that's when vivid dreams happen.

I was at home, in Slovakia, with a bunch of colleagues from previous work at my house (from job I had right before leaving for the U.S.). One of them, a young lawyer woman (haven't seen her or thought about her for 8 years!) was kinda psycho in the dream. She forced me into a police car, which was for some strange reason parked in our garage and went on some sort of terrorist suicide mission. We were going to get a cache of weapons or something. I was being really nice to her, trying to get her to like me and trust me so that I can flee.... We were stopped by real police - two police women. My psycho colleague was trying to get them in on the deal and in her derranged mind she was succeeding.... We stepped outside, it was a few blocks away from my house. We were in front of a building where I used to have piano and gymnastics lessons as a kid (4-6yrs old). She asked whether there was a bathroom in there. Sure, I pointed her to it and then fled. I remembered to run away from the street and paths- under the trees and behind bushes. I was hoping the cops would get her or that she'd get on with her mission before she finds me.

...i guess it must be anxiety about moving back home in 8 months or something...

Lovely dream (the first one)...littlek...

I had lovely, very colorful dream like that last night.

It's my friend's wedding. (She's Christian, so it's a church wedding...I recently went to a friend's wedding at a church..). In my dream she's wearing a beautiful deep blue wedding gown (she was wearing a white wedding gown that she ordered from London, in reality). It was such a lovely deep blue, it took my breath away...
I, am for some reason, dressed in a bridal deep red sari (again very beautiful ...I dont have one like that...). And then my friend and I walk out to the garden. It's more like a wilderness...the garden is such a lovely shade of green...and then we see some colorful little parakeets and mynahs. I spot a red-and-yellow butterfly. Then, we walk some more and I find some beautiful blue stones (look like turquoise gemstones) near my feet.
The dream was long...and full of colors of the sky, there was the sea...a lovely little tortoise and so on.

I was so happy when I woke up this morning...
