What did you dream last night?

I dreamed that I had been asked to repair a computer program. After looking at the program I discovered that various elements of the program were changing on a moment by moment basis due to completely unrelated external events (like the temperature outside, the stock market, and the number of people driving through Kansas). I couldn't repair the program fast enough to get ahead of the changes, so I started trying to write a program that would control the external events themselves... but I couldn't figure out how to do it, so the dream was frustrating.

(In waking life I've recently been learning a new programming language, and running a business at the same time. This dream felt like some kind of mishmash of the two things.)

So you, Rosborne, are the reason I couldn't drive home from Missouri last night! (I live in Kansas).

I dreamt I was a high school teacher. I came in to the Principal's office, closed the door and sat down. "First off," I told the Principal, "I want you to know that I've done something wrong and I am completely guilty."

I went on to explain that a student, who was otherwise exemplary and was heading for a brilliant career, had stolen a test answer sheet from another teacher. The other teacher had found out and was about to have this student disciplined and expelled.

"So to protect the student's future," I confessed to the Principal, "I murdered the other teacher."

[I have a lot of these 'guilty' dreams, but I have never and would never commit a felony. What does this mean, Doctor Freud?]

I had two long dreams last night but I can only remember the second one. I was on a wooden sailing ship, it was very low to the water and crowded with people in Middle Eastern dress.
I recognized Jesus sitting amongst and he was giving each of them something, but I woke up before I was able to make my way over to him.

It was coffee; I was there (I wore the robes with the Nike logo).
The coffee was "Supreme Bean".

Last night I dreamed that I had a third child and that I didn't know his name. When I heard his name I wondered why "they" named him that and was certain that if I had been there (at his birth) I would have named him differently.

Ugh, what a horrible nightmare. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it, shopping... [shivvers], and housewares no less.

I dream about shopping at least three or four times a week. It's a reoccurring dream, which is disturbing in it's own way. Very Happy

Interesting. I don't think I've ever had a shopping dream my whole life.

In spite of being very, very weary I was being shepherded along a street of warehouses, supposedly to help someone find office space for a new, exciting project.

I was most reluctant and the street went on and on and on.

Then I was told in insincere tones that "we" were so lucky; that the perfect space was available for organizing and storing artifacts connected with the lesser-known vice presidents; that I would have a wonderful time organizing this exciting project.

No one paid a bit of attention to my refusal, but I walked out.

Very strange... I dreamt I was deep inside a large modern airport terminal and I suddenly decided to leave. As I turned to go back the direction I came, a tall dark haired girl walked up beside me and started saying something complex about microscopes. I said, "Isn't that funny, you know a lot about microscopes, and I know a lot about computers". Then I said something complex about programming and she laughed because we couldn't understand each other.

Then I asked her if there was a music store anywhere in the terminal. I wanted to buy a pair of drumsticks (In real life I played the drums in high-school). She wandered off, but I found a music store which displayed all kinds of drumsticks, so I went to the front counter and pointed to a pair that I wanted the clerk to get for me. But as I pointed to them, I realized that they had changed into a strange pair of carved polynesian tikki idols shaped like drumsticks.

When the clerk returned with what should have been the drumsticks I wanted, he instead handed me a steaming appetizer plate with two clam shells on it. Inside each clam shell were some kind of dead cooked moth. I explained to him that this was not what I asked for, and in a thick italian accent, he began to tell me how to make one of his famous italian casseroles.

Throughout the whole dream, the feeling I had was that I really wanted to play the drums again (it seemed to bring back memories of fun times in High-School).

Interesting dream, rosborne. Maybe you should take up playing the drums again? I think music is good for the soul. Helps us to do so many things. Like softening our mood when angry. Or helping us when we're sad. It's just such a good outlet and I bet your talent is still there, waiting to be unleashed again.

I had NO dreams last night. Razz But I didn't get to bed to sleep till almost 4 am. So I wasn't in bed long enough to dream, I guess. But I strangely feel rejeuvenated...for so little sleep.

What you do last night, JBrooke? Cool

I was in the lobby of a brightly lit older theatre in NYC, with pale pink drapes and a mauve colored carpet. Martha Plimpton and, what looked like Leonardo DiCaprio (but could have been her ex-boyfriend River Phoenix) walked in with a wrapped bouquet of white roses and she smiled and presented them to me. I was very surprised and had no idea why she gave me the roses, except that in one of my dreams last night i mentioned my novel and that i was working on the sequel so maybe there was a tie-in there. Who knows? Dreams are trippy. I love them most when they make no sense atall.

Not what I would have rather been doing. Actually, I had a drawing that I had been working on and decided to totally change it and turn it into a painting. SO by the time I got my paints out and everything set up it was after midnight. Then I couldn't stop till I finished it. Just kept getting later and later. Actually that is probably why I feel refreshed today and not tired. Music and art are comforting to me.

Your dream sounds very eloquent. My dreams usually involve someone chasing me or are just too strange to figure out. But eloquence is rarely there. When I wasn't getting a lot of sleep because of classes and work ...it seemed like I had more dreams than I do now.

White roses, huh? Hmmm ....gotta be some significance in that color.

oh-oh. Now I'm nervous. WHITE roses? Leonardo DiCaprio but it COULD have been the late River Phoenix? She hands ME the roses?

I don't like the sound of that now at all.

Hmmm, just what I thought. According to my book, white roses, if seen without sunshine or dew, denotes a serious if not fatal illness. Shocked

Damn. We were inside a theatre lobby. But it was very bright and sparkling. Hope that denotes something good.

THANKS BROOKE! Mad

Oh nooooo eoe! I think your roses were in your dream because they symbolize pureness and brightness.

It has also been said that when someone hands you a white rose.....they are telling you that they think you are an angel.

You are pure and bright.....and an angel. Right?

Eoe, Brooke--

What do the books say about a landscape of puddled, molten lava?

I couldn't find a way around.

Noddy,

I have missed A LOT going on within the forum over the past 10 months but in trying to get caught up, I have read much of what you have been going through. You are at the very top of the "sweetest of hearts" list on A2K. If there were a way that I could help you....there would be no 2nd thought needed. It would just be done.

I'm thinkin' your dream has something to do with all of that. The freedom to live life to the absolute fullest has been chipped away a little bit for you, hasn't it? (putting it mildly) Maybe your dream is sort of how you feel sometimes. Things that you know you have to get through but the terrain of life is most difficult to travel sometimes.
