Well, good afternoon to one and all. I couldn't think of anything to write about earlier today.
Through the early games, most of us got burnt by Miami losing to Buffalo. ElStud, Cowdoc and Maporsche got that game right.
Maporsche has just one game wrong thus far (the NYG-Broncos game that caught all of us save George). A bunch of us are 8-2.

@realjohnboy,
Forgive me being a bit thick but how is the Eagles 4th quarter score of 11 made up?

@spendius,
Buckley scored a TD (6 points) and then the Eagles eschewed the normal kick for one point after, going instead and getting two via a run/pass (2 points). They got a field goal later (3 points).
How often do you get to word "eschewed" by the way?

@realjohnboy,
I use the word but I have odd diction. A college prof clued me in to that. Probably for using colloquial language in an essay on Dante - but I can pick words that amuse me that others find snotty.

@ossobuco,
Are you calling me snotty?
Calling a redneck snotty seems to me to be more than an oxymoron.

@realjohnboy,
Sure, that's what people think when I say eschewed. That's only fair.

Oy. 14 games over with. A number of folks, including some of the leaders, are 12-2. Oy.

@George,
Way to go George. You eschewed the Vegas line and scored a real coup with the Denver pick. Bravo.

I did the same in picking Chicago over Minnesota. But what did it get me?

The game tonight between the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints should be good. The Saints are 10-0 while the Patriots are 7-3 and need to win to keep playoff hopes alive. Each QB has thrown for 20+ TD's. The Patriot's Brady may have an edge since the Saints are 16th in the NFL in pass defense while the Patriots are 6th.

There are 4 players here who are 13-2 going into tonight. Ragman has New England as his choice. Picking New Orleans are Fox (with a final score of 21-18), Maporsche (35-30) and Spendius (33-24). Maporsche has already won 2 weeks this season.
The 1st tiebreaker in the event of a Saints victory is "player closest to winning team's total points. If N.O. wins and scores 26 or fewer points, Fox will win. Spendius hopes to see between 28 and 33 and Maporsce wants 35 or more. Exactly 27 or 34 would send me looking at the 2nd tiebreaker.

@realjohnboy,
Which means I have least chance of winning. Had I said 36, which I nearly did, Map would be in my position. Is McGentrix on the Patriots?

When we were talking about "improbable" scores (which none of these are), I mentioned picking a score deliberately designed to put another player in a "box," - i.e. limited to a very narrow range.
The 8 folks at the top of the league all have N.O. except for Cowdoc. McGentrix is at 12-3 so it looks like you will gain a game and be just one game out of first!
