Bella--

You might sleep tonight with a towel underneath, just in case your water breaks.

You don't want to bring Baby Bella home from the hospital and find that you forgot a soggy mattress in the excitement of getting to the hospital.

When was the last time you repacked your hospital bag?

wise words

Bella, you have a lot of people waiting with you!

Ommm and performing mental cervix-stretching exercises (which I think it would be unwise to do at work). Baby Bella Fartina is just waiting to make her grand entrance in time for the weekend. A party gal in training.

Well, no progress from yesterday. Confused Still at an "almost 2" and she is stationed at -4.

Here is the good news.

I am stuck in the latent phase of labor....spinning my wheels and getting nowhere. It's been a week. I am tired and mentally drained. My doctor gave me an option today at my exam I didn't expect.

He's breaking my water tonight. Shocked Very Happy

Send me "no pitocin" vibes....I am hoping to be close enough that breaking my water is enough to send me into labor.

Tomorrow is my due date so this isn't premature. She will be born on my due date.

I am really nervous but also very excited and glad to know that this will all be over soon.

Baby Bella will be here by this time tomorrow if all goes well.

I can't even believe it.

It depends - is she on the east coast? If not there could be even more time.

Pitocin is the drug that makes you want to kill the doctor.

Or,

"Pitocin, a medication used to induce or augment labor, has gotten a bad reputation-that it makes contractions much more painful, for example, or that it necessitates some invasive high-tech procedures. But while there are certainly downsides to injudicious use of this medication, keep in mind that, when used correctly, Pitocin sometimes can prevent the need for cesarean delivery.

What is pitocin?
Pitocin is the brand name of a synthetic form of oxytocin, a contraction-causing hormone made in a woman's brain. When used in medicinal form, Pitocin can initiate or augment labor by making contractions stronger and more frequent. Pitocin usually is given in liquid form, through a woman's intravenous (IV) line."

Excellent definition.

They snuck mine in. I'd had the epidural, and was trying to get some sleep, and in the middle of the night a nurse came in and started putting something in my IV and I groggily asked what it was and she cheerily said "Pitocin!" and then... well it involved some yelling.

no pitocin no pitocin no pitocin...

I had it too - probably because I was in labor for ever...Pitocin did not have any effect emotionally on me - not even sure if it helped induce labor to move along or not.

No emotional effect per se, just OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! effect. Plus messes with natural progression, which... hmm. Will leave it at that.

No pitocin no pitocin no pitocin...
