@farmerman,
I am taking Nebivolol Clorohydrate for my arrhythmia...I have gotten better since I started the medication a couple of years ago. I haven't made a full-scale investigation on my heart condition yet to my wife's despair so I cannot provide you with details on what is causing the problem. The pre-diagnostic related my arrhythmia with my valves not being young anymore but obviously that was a dismissive take on it typical of a cautious pre-diagnose. Anyway, as you said panicking didn't help at all. On one occasion on which I did panic my heart like stoped for 2 seconds and my heartbeat was all over the place...I do have good heart doctors here in Coimbra (huge public hospital with top-notch specialists) and free care....still I missed a couple of appointments to investigate further. I will get a Darwin award one of these days...
(Yes I do still smoke 2 packs a day but heat sticks now without burning and without Tar, and yes I do not get out of my house now consecutive for 9 months in a row. I do not exercise more than going from my bed to my PC chair, to the Kitchen or the bathroom...)
I spend my time mostly seeing lectures debates documentaries and playing some games on the web since I am retired due to my 90% vision loss

@Fil Albuquerque,
clot control is the ticket, the big issue of risk of strokes can be lowered a lot by prevention backed up with self induced "clot busters".
You ought to get a little more daily exercise though dont you think?

@Roberta,
I was just making my inspection of the herd and did my chicken spection. It funny that, when they see me, they all come running up the end of the outdoor arena like that Cldesdale Dolt in the Budqeiser ad. They are really my goomah's

Well, it was the first time I heard it, so for me it's terrific......my big problem now is working it into a conversation...thanks for sharing.
