He sounded discouraged and tired last evening. I have a call from him on my answering macchina (just got home) and he sounds better, more his droll self. I assume it all varies with pain meds and the sight of the difficulties of getting better. Will report as seems appropriate.

They don't do therapy during visiting hours, so he gave me those, New Mexico Time, natch. I guess they call it Mountain time.
So, M-F 5pm to 9pm

I wanna be able to find it when I look for it later this week.
It turns out that when I've followed that and still not been able to reach him, and have checked the nursing station, he has been at dinner - which must be at something like 6 to 7:30 our time.

I just talked with him for, oh, 30 seconds, someone in the room. Still sounds betterish.
I did ask him, whenever, about books, and he said Annie (at his bookstore) knows the books he likes - he runs out, she can pick out a bunch. And he can get a message to her.
This is good.

Yesterday he barked at me when I called somewhere after the beginning of visiting hours. Had too much going on. Naturally I barked back. Then called me later, there had been a circus with people in his room, people from work, hospital people, and the phone. Be sure he has your number, or leave it with the nursing station.
