OMG! Just got the news. Thanks for the email letting me know, Letty. I was just about to send Rog an email wishing him a belated birthday (was Sunday) and I heard the news.
I'm worried sick and hope my buddy is ok!
I'll send him an email now, but I'll wait to call him until he gets a bit stronger.

Eva
Another OMG! Glad your son is ok!

Just sent Roger an email. Thank you Osso, BPB, and others who are keeping us informed on Rogers condition.
I thought about calling him, but I think I'll wait until he's not in so much pain.
I would imagine he's in terrible pain right now and here's hoping he'll have a speedy recovery.

Gentle hugs to you Roger.

I just talked with Roger. He sounded better. He said they were going to transfer him to a room in the therapy department, and that he'd been given a little physical therapy twice now. And that they have him sitting up.

And that his birthday is this next Sunday...

Told me about his stack of emails which he will answer when he gets a chance.

I asked him again about getting calls and he said he would enjoy hearing from people, then something about not too many.

Don't worry. You can wrap your arms and legs around me for comfort.

Just got off the phone with Roger. I was surprised, to say the least, to be getting a call from him.
Someone here (I wonder who Cool ) told him I was waiting to call him, so he called me.

He sounds pretty good, although he is in a fair amount of pain. He says his pelvis is fractured in 3 places, but docs don't think surgery is needed and expect them to heal on their own.
He also broke 2 ribs and his collar bone, so you can imagine he's not moving around very well, but he says his recovery is moving very fast, which I was very happy to hear.

What an idiot I am! I thought his birthday was last Sunday. I was mad at myself for forgetting his birthday, but now I'm off the hook Cool

I read him your posts at the top of the page... after he mentioned he might call you. Very Happy

I didn't know about the collar bone, geeeeeesh. He probably told me, but I don't hear all the things he says - though better today. He was less volume changing, and less slurrying with words, sharper (he is, in real life, as suscinct and sharp as on a2k, somewhat more voluble).

It was difficult understanding him at times because he had the hiccups Laughing (says he had them for 4 days) , but he sounded better than I expected.

Yeah, I heard the breaking of a collar bone is quite painful in itself (ouch!!!)!

I hope he's feeling better with every day that passes.

Hiccups + broken collar bone + broken ribs can't be pleasant. Shocked

Thanks for the updates everyone, and feel better, Roger... (Does bacon cure hiccups?)

I use to tilt my head up, hold my nose and drink a whole glass of water to get rid of mine and it actually worked.

The pain has to be bad enough without the damn hiccups, that's for sure.

Poor Roger!

Broken collarbones and the morning newspaper are a very unfortunate combination.

Roger called last evening, was again easier to understand. He's been researching places to be transferred to for after-hospital nursing care, and the details re what his insurance will absorb.

I just got off the phone from talking to Roger.

Hurts to cough, hurts to laugh, but good to talk for about 10 minutes.

We talked a bit about the discharge planning process (to get him to a rehabilitation facility). It'll be a while til he's ready for that step by the sounds of it.

He certainly was surprised when I identified myself. Apparently was more prepared to get a call from Napoleon Bonaparte Very Happy

Roger appreciates the ommmmmmmms, the emails, and the good thoughts. He's no longer a skeptic about the power of the A2K vibe.

So let's keep it goin'.

If you know people care about you, even if you have never met and only know them courtesy of (as Setanta said) "dancing electrons" it makes a difference. Rooting for you Rog. btw was the bike badly damaged if not can I buy it cheap? Laughing

Just got off the phone with Roger. As ehBeth said, he is quite overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and caring that he has gotten from A2K.
