What were the main ideological causes of World War II?

Where did all the loonies go?? By page 3 I was looking for Ramadama to show up and give us all a hit of common sense.

Now it has degenerated into a fairly rational discussion.

Yes, and shouldn't Hitler's belief that in the far future (in a century or two, or three) the Slavic nations would be stronger than Germany, and defeat Germany in some war. There was an element of preventive maintenance in these beliefs, I believe.

There was also the belief that was being proselytized by the early Nazis that Germany should return to the ways of the old Teutonic heroes of the Germanic operas, as was shown in the annual Bayreuth Festival. This afforded the rationale for Aryan superiority.

And, there was also the desire to colonize Russia with ethnic Germans (Russians could have used up the Zyclon-B gas that was found in abundance in the death camps; much more than what was needed to exterminate the remaining Jews in Europe).

Perhaps, the short answer is just the Nazi party, and its belief system. Without the Nazi party (and Hitler), Germany would likely have not rearmed between the two world wars.
Your first sentence isnt one.

The rest of your post is aimless rambling.

Funny, coming from someone who is a citizen of the island nation that dealt with V-2's every night at that time. It appears to me you are making light of a belief system that would have enslaved your country.

Jesus . . . somebody buy this boy a vowel.

Hey, genius, what he's making light of is what passes for coherent expression at your house.

V2 rocket attacks did not begin until September 1944. About 1300 hit England, mostly London a few on Norwich and Ipswich. A similar number struck Antwerp, and hundreds more hit cities such as Paris Lille and Maastricht. We did not "deal with them" as there was no defense. We endured them until such time invading allied forces eliminated the threat. I am not "making light" of the Nazis. They were particularly unpleasant people, but whether Hitler planned to "enslave" the British as envisaged for the peoples of Eastern Europe is another question altogether.

I was using "enslave" in a colloquial sense. Meaning England at best would have been brought into the ubermenschen culture, and would then have to rewrite their history most likely to make it appear they were always more Germanic than just their evolved language. Perhaps, some would have liked the transition? Not everyone was happy with Churchill.

"Aimless rambling"? Your compressing Hitler's motive into "meglomanaical messianic demagogery" is sort of a mouthful of ad hominems; however, it's less accurate than any rambling, I believe.

Do you prefer to blame it all on Hitler and the Versailles Treaty "humiliation"? No, responsibility to those Germans that voted for the Nazi Party, and what it stood for????

I will act intrusively as long as I'll see your pitiful attempts to spread such a superficial knowledge as yours.

As a matter of fact, you should learn this English idiom: - "People who live in glass houses should not throw stones".

I remember your lame attempts, uttering some nonsense in Spanish.

I also remember your twisted approachs of history...

I think you have a bloody cheek to pick Francis up on that. "With" or "At", the meaning is clear. Which is more than can be said for most of your posts here.

Don't expect me to understand British slang (i.e., "bloody cheek").

Also, my version of history comes from what I've learned in American schools, or reading books here. It's possible that Europe has a new version of history, to facilitate everyone giving up old antagonisms that led to 1,000 years of warring.

But, it's nice to know how you guys across the pond like to gang up on an American with a different view. How quickly you forget what the U.S. did to keep you free from facism and communism. Some Americans actually have relatives that served in both World Wars, to give you guys your freedom.

I would guess that many Europeans are really quite alienated from many in America these days, what with Evangelical Christians abounding here, and the U.S. military stationed around the world, the lack of the social rankings that predominate in Europe, and more importantly, I believe, so much less of the prejudices that have been in Europe for the last thousand years.

Perhaps, it's true that the average leopard can't change its spots!

I don't understand your use of the term, "construct"?

I assume it's not meant to be complimentary. If that's correct, could you try to insult me in simpler language? That would be appreciated.

Problem is that you are a pitiful example what American civilization is not.

Your whole post is the evidence of your twisted ways.

What my disliking of you, as an individual, has to do with what Americans did to help Europe, I wonder?

As to me ganging up, it's mere assumption from your part, with no foundation at all.

What other dumb assertions will you come up with?

I'm not from "across the pond," and neither is Osso nor Rockhead. I can't speak for them, but for my part, i'm more than happy to "gang up on" Foofie to point out that what he actually knows about this topic (and so many, many others) would not fill a very tiny thimble.

awright awright calm down lads...as they say in scouserland

Firstly no one is ganging up on foofie

well not me anyway

I cant gang up on someone who pleads to be insulted in simpler language Smile

Second I am of course grateful to all those people who gave their lives to defeat National Socialism in Germany. That includes Germans French Russians Americans Italians and British.

Thirdly I am exceedingly pissed off with the simplistic notion often emanating form the other side of the pond that if it wasnt for the Americans we would all be speaking German, then more German, and finally Russian.

Of course America made tremendous sacrifice in defeating Hitler. But come on its more complex than that.

Finally I have to remind you that if it wasnt for us Brits, you lot in N America would all be speaking French.....Smile
