989a. Did lots of spring cleaning, yesterday. Plus, I made up a solar screen for the big window at the sunny end of the house. There is one small window that also needs one.
990a. I need new tires for the wagon that I bought from the Tractor Store. I wonder if there isn't something that could be injected into those small tires to make them solid. It's crazy how quickly they lose air.
991a. I am warming to the idea that atheists can gather for a few causes. I think many of us secretly fear retribution and we mistakenly "reason" that there is no need to organize in any way. So long as we keep our own selves independent and not lock into a code or dogma, I no longer see that a gathering has to be a bad thing.
992a. Florida's self defense laws have got to be overturned or at least recast to protect the innocent.

993a. Last night, I boiled some wieners for dinner. As I drained the water off of them, I got my thumb in the steam. I ignored the burn for a few minutes, but the pain increased to the point I went to the freezer for some ice. Then I remembered that in the past, when burns were rather frequent, I had kept a container of DMSO on hand for these type burns. It was in a bottle similar to roll on deodorant bottles. I took the DMSO I keep on hand for other purposes and put some on the spot, which by then was working on blistering. The pain kept on for about five minutes more and then subsided. The burn spot was red. After about ten more minutes, I essentially forgot the burn. This morning, there is no trace of it left. A word of caution to anyone who wants to copy this remedy. DMSO can be dangerous if used wrongly. Read up on it before even purchasing some.

994a. Yesterday was not a fun day. Right before quitting time, I received a report of an A/C down. It did not take long to figure that the freon was extremely low. My leak detector needed new batteries. There were none to be had. I borrowed the ones out of the assistant manager's flashlight. Sure enough, when I entered the apartment, I immediately got a reading of freon in the air, before approaching the source. At first, I experimented with the new glue that is being pushed to replace brazing. Unsatisfied with the results I was getting, I decided to use the torch. I had to quit to buy little things needed, such as pvc for the drain and then the pvc cutter broke. Installing the new coil was the simple part. Since the system was empty of freon (it all leaked out) all I had to do was cut the two copper lines and solder the new ones. The whole process took four hours. So, I worked twice as long as normal. I don't mind getting a larger pay check this week, but next year's income tax is already looking to be expensive.
995a. I am still trying to figure how the Florida law protects that man in the shooting of the teen. The man was clearly the aggressor, which ought to shift the law protection to the kid. I collapsed the thread on this, because it has been hijacked by the resident fool.
996a. I am getting a new work associate in about a week. He's a Hispanic man that I escorted about the property several days ago. I had the impression I could work with him. He will be the lead man.
997a. My truck keys are so worn I have to play with it a while to get started. The Ford dealer said the truck is too old for them to have a key. He said to go to a locksmith. That's where I will go after work today.

@edgarblythe,
Would it make sense and is possible that all refrigerators have a buzz or light alarm when the freon gets low? Just wondering, Edgar. Maybe you could invent one so you could get rich and not have to work so hard.

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
I am not smart enough to do that, BBB. I don't have an inventor's mind.

@Rockhead,
I just came home with three keys, rock. All together spent 19.87. The locksmith diddled around, checking stuff before making the key. Then he had to file it just a tad. Worked great. Now I don't spend ten minutes getting started every time.

I tried that a number of years back. It did not get enough participation. Besides, I am uneducated as to the terminology in a lot of what I do. That makes it difficult to share.

998a. I have been on leave from the creative process this week. Too stressed from my job. Perhaps next week or the next will find me darning my socks in the night when there's nobody there. What do I care.
999a. I plan to win the Mega Millions lottery this week. I could use the $500 millions to fix up my truck and get a new set of tools to use on the job. Speaking of which, did you see the story of a woman that bought a scratch off ticket, then made a present of it to a homeless man, who happened to be in the store? He won $250,000. She tried to get it back, but it was captured on video that she freely made it a gift.
Suggestion: If anybody ever gives a lottery ticket to you, take it home first before seeing if it is a winner.

@edgarblythe,
The reason I mentioned that. My 2-door refrigerator has a light warning that the filter on the drinking water in the door is time to change. Why couldn't the same thing be made for the freon was low in the same spot and method?

@BumbleBeeBoogie,
I don't know how practical that would be. If the refrigerator quits cooling you need a repairman anyway. Unless it is so old you need a new one.

Never mind. BBB Embarrassed

But---would that alert the owner that before repairs must be made, which would avoid losing all the contents in the refrigerator because the loss of cold?

I don't know. Very often, heating in a refrigerator can be from other causes, such as blockage of air flow, faulty freezer thermostat, bad gasket and so forth. In my time at the apartments, only a couple went bad due to leaking freon.

1000a. When I work, I get focused on forcing the object in question to bend to my will. As a result, I forget to protect myself from little nicks and scrapes. I have to get bandaids from the office almost daily. The boss has finally quit reacting with horror every time I go in with a paper towel soaking in the blood. I am referring to little wounds, not bone jarring, life threatening episodes.
1001a. Governor Perry said the furor over pink slime in the meat is groundless hysteria. I bet he enjoys a bowl of it before bedtime, it's so good.
1002a. Going to look for a hoodie this weekend.
