@edgarblythe,
That's the thing about being a collector of vinyl. You can trace one's history of relationship (or non-relationships) of lovers, friends and family through where those lps went to. I still have my sister's Dylan collection from when I went into the service in 1970.

As an interesting aside, I guess that she felt she didn't need lps anymore because at the time, and for 10 yrs forward, she lived with and managed the career of a well-known folk singer (Dave Van Ronk). I guess she had no need of lps becauase the music she liked she could hear live.

@edgarblythe,
I lost all my 45s..except for an odd potpourri few: 'Sounds of Silence', 'In the Year 2525', 'I'm a Man'Spencer Davis Group (Stevie Winwood), Some Smokey Robinson Sam Cooke, Beatles. Others I eventually tossed because there were no discernible highs left and the crackling and the scratches were a risk to me phono stylus and my ears. 45s get no respect....often times no jackets/protection..and often played on budget-crpa or college dorm systems.

Some of my 45s play about the same as when I bought them. Sukiaki and Hey Jude for instance, Some of the Sun Records, such as The Return of Jerry Lee and Great Balls of Fire still sound good. They were purchased before 1960. GB of F in 1958.

@edgarblythe,
I'd go nuts thumbing through and listening to your lps, obviously. We have quite a common musical taste.

Out of curiosity, did you ever see Jerry Lee Lewis perform live?

@Ragman,
About three times I almost got go, but it didn't work out. Truthfully, I prefer his studio records to any live performances I've heard.

471a. I think I can prepare for a decent rain, today. It's on the radar. We often lose electric when that happens.
472a. I think the house across the street is suddenly getting transformed. Workers have gutted it and are redoing all the outer walls and siding too. This after they cleaned out all the dead and unnecessary trees.
473a. I think this is a day for me to remember Sam, who ought to have been 67 today. I have accepted that he is gone. Just don't know how to fill in the hole left by his passing.
474a. I think there will shortly be sausages, eggs, biscuits and the like, on the table. Must hasten.
475. I think "Ramses the II is dead my love/ He's left from Memphis to Heaven/ Ptah has taken him on his solar barqe/ And walked him to Nut's celestial shore/ Standing in the harsh harsh gray granite forever/ With a coffin of gold/ And pretty pale carvings/ Heaven is waiting for Ramses II/ He's gone to Ptah's great side."

@edgarblythe,
Funny you should remark on matters Egypt. What do you think of Egyptian
influence on Jewish culture via Moses's childhood in an Egyptian household,
as presumably he himself wote about in Genesis*...Creation, afterlife, omnipotent god, code of personal conduct, law,
etc.?,and hence Christian thought.
* Just a guess; haven't had a bible in my possession since Sunday School over half century ago.

@neko nomad,
I am no scholar, neko. I have read more times than one that Moses may be fictional and that the role of Jews as slaves may be an exaggeration. As a natural sceptic, I have to distance myself from any notions of such influence.

476a. I think as a football pundit I am a pretty fair viewer of Antenna TV network.
477a. I think yesterday's rain will keep the trees from further withering for a time. It came down for several hours.
478a. I think The Last Word thread is a fun thread. We get to argue, so far, without rancor.
479a. I think today is the day we resume replacing siding, at work. I also bought some material to resume the work on the back of my house.
480a. I think it's a bit odd to walk in a Walmart, grab a nice razor, then hand the clerk a coupon giving it to me for free, then walk out, without once reaching for my wallet.

481a. I think tonight will be fish night. Yum. I can taste the scaly creatures already.
482a. I think the Chronicle's new comics layout makes viewing many of my favorites and most peripheral favorites an unwelcome chore. Let's be honest. Most of the comics are not good enough to demand the extra effort.
483a. I think I am out of think time.

484a. I think that if Republicans make new gains in the coming election, the nation will be screwed.
485a. I think the Beatles ought to have sung it this way:
She's in love with you, yes, yes
Oh Lord yes
With such a love as this
You should be happy indeed
Fa la la la la la la la la
486a. I think they could have also sung:
I should like to grasp your digits -
487a. I think it's high entertainment, to watch the squirrels in the back yard, competing with the bluejays, for the peanuts I set out.

488a. I think the Wall Street protests are a plea to listen to the people instead of lobbyists in Washington.
489a. I think the almost daily attacks on the use of vitamins in the media is misguided. But, a person owes it to their own health to investigate their own bodily needs before taking just anything that's out there. Many brands of vitamins and minerals may be practically useless and some may be harmful.
490a. I think Herman Cain was born in Kenya.

491. I think the occupy wall street people should move when the authorities say "move" because rioting and fighting with police will discredit what they do, in the eyes of many, and the move may degenerate into a bitter struggle that kills it.
492a. I think I will have pancakes for breakfast. I haven't had that in a long time. I read the labels on the mix carefully, because I don't want any cornmeal in it. I have molasses medium flavor and butter.
493a. I think it's delightful out, this morning. Finally got down in the 50s.
494a. I think switching electric companies is a tough proposition. We did so and received a $600 bill from the old company.
495a. I think I may get off work and then go install grab bars in an in-law's house, today.

496a. I think the grab bar installation will take place today, in the afternoon.
497a. I think i-phones seem so decadent. What would I ever do with one to justify the expense?
498a. I think Gauguin's thoughts appeal to me more than his paintings. I was reading quotes a few minutes ago. "If you see a tree as blue, paint it blue." My sentiment exactly.
499a. I think how stupefied I was to learn of the many millions of gallons of water Houston has begun robbing from lake Conroe. And, yet, the lake has only dropped about six feet.
500a. I think it is a crime to operate a highway with thousands of seventy MPH vehicles, which have to make a sudden stop to pay a toll, before resuming speed. Last month, a toll worker was run over and killed. This week, a big rig slammed into the toll booth, went airborne and landed on an SUV. I am not certain, but I think the deaths numbered two. I am of the opinion that a car entering the highway ought to pay all it will owe at that point and not be expected to brake until after it has exited.

@edgarblythe,
Cigars are the best in the world. We traveled to the tobacco country a couple of days ago, and visited a farm that was established in 1865. We met the owner who has a Japanese name, so we became "brothers" on the spot! LOL
