@edgarblythe,
446a You need to go to Home Depot sober....
@cicerone imposter,
Aw a six pack of Lone Star Beer never hurt anybody.
@edgarblythe,
Accidentally drop a punkin on his silly haid!
Used to always shave with Gillette triple blades...but in the last 6 months I switched to disposable. I am now using the ergonomic-handled Shick Extreme 3 to see how good a shave I can get for a length of time (with no nicks or unven coverage). So far, I get between 5-6 shaves getting what I call a good-to-excellent shave. I would only get about 8 shaves with allegedly longer-lasting and thicker Gillette triples blades. Not a good value and not a better shave.
BTW, no matter which blades I use, I clean the blades well so no left over whiskers are clogging the blades. They stay smoother and sharper this way.
@Ragman,
I use the Gillette disposeables. The three blade razors seem a bit awkward to me.
@Ragman,
Glad you shared that info, because I've used an electric for many decades and found out I couldn't get a clean shave with just elec, so I now take along the 3-razor Gillette. Since I don't use it for a full shave it lasts pretty long.
@cicerone imposter,
Electric razors I gave up on more than a decade ago. Braun razors were the best as far as my survey of an electric razor went. Those foil screens were OK...but my objection was that it didn't get as close and irritation-free as I would like. I've a medium-weight beard and 24-hrs after a shave with an electric it looks like 2 days growth. However, with a bladed good razor it's fairly acceptable after 24 hrs.
All of this is subjective as it can depend on your own beard growth, face/beard prep (shave lotion or cream) and method and time you take with shaving.
CI ...that's another good point. If I wait 2-3 days (very easy to do as I work from home) between shaves, I have to throw a disposable away afterwards.
I dislike Bic and Gillette disposables. Shick Extreme 3 is better product - leading by a whisker.
447a. I think here's to friends, missing and otherwise.
448a. I think there are at least four - maybe - No, four - tales in the Naked City.
449a. I think it is pretty neat. I mentioned before how I found the old sprinkler line. I connected it to an active sprinkler line yesterday. After 19 or so years, the sprinkler heads mostly worked, with no repairs or replacements necessary. The pressure was adequate.
450a. I think the people who deposit money in my bank for me - the company, the govt. and anybody else - ought to put in just a little bit more. I'm a turnip. Do I not bleed?
451. I think no way to disguise my anxiety. Roberta and letty not here just now. I don't want to pry into letty's personal business, but her absence this long is out of character. Boita of course was going to the hospital.
452a. I think gustavratzenhofer's visit on a2k yesterday was a welcome sight. Beneath the facade is a great guy.
453a. I think I am happy to be getting up this morning. The dry air was making it impossible to breath through the nose.
454a. I think my loyalties have shifted, in football, for the first time since 1964. Yesterday, I was rooting for the Texans to beat the Steelers. (They did)
455a. I think the Wall Street protests are a good start.
456a. I think Quibbles and Bits, for A2K breakfast, some mornings.
457a. I think Perry-for-president mania is passing. Thank goodness he peaked before gaining the nomination.
458a. I think approaching holidays. I think: goody.
459a. I think I should have divested my portfolio, except I had none to divest.
450a. I think the episode of Terra Nova last night was in some parts better than the last episode. I do have a problem in that the issue of the murderous birds was too easily resolved, however. They should proceed as if they have all the time in the world to work through their problems, thereby building viewer suspense and involvement.
451a. I think somebody is missing a good CD collection, this morning. We watched a man drive around the corner, on the way out of the neighborhood, his truck loaded to the maximum. The collection was well protected in a case, but the case slid out on the road. We tried a few times to locate him after that. Today, we will put a notice at the bank of mailboxes, near the entrance to the neighborhood.
452a. I think Bingo was his name-o.
453a. I think how boring to turn on the TV and run through the stations, only to find cooking tips, house repair tips, dumb talk shows, news shows that ramble and gossip and promote "reality" shows, reruns that have aired hundreds of times in a row, infomercials - and when you find old shows to watch, they chop out portions, often including the very last frames, so that they can squeeze in another five minutes of commercials. Even in prime time, I have to walk away so often.
454a. I think I may be guilty of a crime against humanity. I gave a young man - not child - a cigarette lighter, because he wanted to smoke.
455a. I think the Guinness Book of Records ought to go digital. Vinyl is so old school.

I greatly appreciate your concern, Edgar. Don't be packing away the anxiety. I'll be back at the hospital in a couple of week. Yes, some people have all the fun.
You're a good kid.
I like this from boida:
You're a kid.
456a. I think the episode of Harry's Law last night was generally good. The behavior of the daughter, once they realized what she had done, rung a bit falsely, somehow.
457a. I think Steve Jobs' passing is a big deal, but I never felt any connection. I blame the system for the illness that killed him. Food chain - household products - FDA and Pharma - Not a topic to be explored on this thread, as it is upsetting to many and a thread hijacker at the least.
458a. I think my boss may be on her way to NYC by now. Vacation. She is a native New Yorker. Her daughter lives out there.
459a. I think that if a member of a2k finds a niche for self expression and is clearly in it for fun and sharing with friends, it is wrong of judgemental or argumentative types to hijack their threads, for whatever cause. This has been happening to a thread I have been following for perhaps a couple of weeks. I put the offending person on ignore.
460a. I think the wall street protesters probably the first wave of Egypt style protests, meant to take back the country from corrupt forces.
461a. I think I may leave the job early today. I have the time coming. I deserve it.
462a. I think The Mentalist got back to being a good show. I like the way they played his dishonest past against the present, with a good result that also saved a child's life.
463a. I think there may be a chance of rain this day. Oh please please pleasepleaseplease -
464a. I think fall was put on hold just a bit longer. It's in the mid seventies at 5:30 AM.
465a. I think I will spend most of my time off this afternoon working on the exterior of my home. It needs a shot of rhythm and blues or something.
466a. I think my back yard daily draws more birds and squirrels. Well, as long as I have got, they shall also have. I had to chase away a predatory looking cat the other day. The TV had a story about animal drought victims last evening. Even had a buzzard in the shelter. My wife has on two occasions witnessed buzzards raiding garbage cans.
467a. I think it will be a good day. Productive. I plan to get in good writing time, plus go to the job and fix up some things I cannot get to during regular hours.
468a. I think Punky did good yesterday. A Door to Door was at the gate and she was actually blocking his entry and barking. A first.
469a. I think the new maintenance worker is awesome. She has helped me accomplish some things I had been forced to keep on a back burner.
470a. I think about breaking out the record player today, to listen to some albums not on youtube.
@edgarblythe,
Glad to read that you're getting help at your work and that it's compatible.
Brady, (in my avatar) is the oddest kind of watch dog as he barks at the wrong things (mail truck & cars driving in the parking lot). No one would make it inside as by his sounds they'd think he was fierce.
ah the warm sound of vinyl ... being a stereophile and vinylphile, I bought a TT (and a TT preamp) back in 2000 when I had a decent job and wide-open career possibilities. On Sundays, I do close-listenin' to my classical and my jazz. Nightly I put on old time R&R. I listened to Lovin Spoonful 'What a ay for a Daydream' the other day. Rubber Soul, etc. These are all albums I bought myself back in the day or received as birthday presents back in my 'teens. Maybe I have about 200 lps. I even have a reliable way to clean them up and preserve the vinyl.
Speaking of writing exercises, back to the drill.
I added the first records to my collection in 1958. They were by Harry Belafonte and Jerry Lee Lewis. I had about three or four thousand albums over the years, but, through attrition and culling, I am close to a thousand now.
@edgarblythe,
Yikes, Edgar! What a treat. Where do you find the room? I can store maybe 500. hoepfully I can come up with a list of 100 I'd like to own (again).
See ... that is what happens when you're stay in one place and/or don't go through 2 divorces and 3 live-in-move-outs.
@Ragman,
I've had setbacks. My first wife "loaned" half of my collection to somebody never seen again. Friends who borrowed albums ruined them or just failed to return them. I left some behind when I moved around and some of my siblings claimed most of my 45s when I left home. I lost some great records that have never been replaced.
I built a cabinet eight feet long. The center of the cabinet houses the albums. The 45s are on a shelf in the entertainment center.
