I just switched from AT&T DSL to Xfinity cable. It seems faster.

We have Xfinity for telephone, tv and internet. Seems to work okay for my needs.

@cicerone imposter,
Until my daughter and her husband stepped in I made do with air TV and DSL. I did all right, but this is much better.

@edgarblythe,
Glad to see you have an easier time with access to Internet as well as TV. I'm currently enjoying access to Netflix and all even though we're in NZ. Sometimes where we are is slower connections but still has good entertainment choices. Kiwi and Brit as well as a lot of US program/programmes. Currently watching NFL Red Zone and/or rgeg coverage of Bears-Packers in real time. Too bad it's not Pats game.

@Ragman,
What I like about my TV setup, I am going to record a show at midnight. I stayed up too late to watch an episode last Sunday. It will take me a while to explore some of what I've got. Plus, all the added movie channels.

I wish ossobuco could see this. This little guy (Max) was sitting next to me at the Christmas parade....he was so funny!

The Heroes & Icons channel has been showing NYPD Blue every night. My wife and I made it a point to watch the entire series. We had to miss four or five episodes along the way, but we saw the final episode tonight. Sipowitz is an interesting character. Tough, opinionated, prejudiced, but loyal, smart and mostly fair in the final analysis, to everyone but perps. He did not seem to act from prejudice for the most part by the end. He did not mind slapping around some of the criminals.

I was just reading about Susan Boyle. She is not in the spotlight anymore, related to her Asperger's Syndrome. I don't like some of her recordings, but I am sorry to learn she has this going on.

There is a toy on many parents' list called a Hatchimal. People are frantic to get theirs and I have seen a few going for over $200. On the TV news they look to be worth about $4. What am I missing here?

Not so many years ago, I planted a sycamore tree near the driveway. This week the bulk of its leaves came down, scattering brown piles all over the driveway and on part of the yard across a fence. Yesterday, four Mexican boys came to my door to ask if I wanted them to rake it up for me. I told them I could not afford to hire out my yard work and sent them away. A few minutes ago, they were back. This time they were carrying rakes and offering to clean up my leaves for free. I sent them away, after explaining that I don't want them raked, not even by me. I never rake up the yard. I am going to run them over with my lawn mower.
I don't understand the kids' motivation, as we and they, or their parents, have not been speaking or meeting at all, ever. I guess they had pity on an old man. I will believe that until shown otherwise.
