At least Baby is doing what she does best: sleeping. She was the sort of dog loves only her family. Loyal and loving. She used to growl at the grandkids, because she did not want them near, but she never tried to bite. Very grouchy where the other dog was concerned, but Punky picked at her too. Baby never did things like chase balls or rough house. Just wanted to hang and sleep and eat. I shall miss her.

edgar I'm sorry about Baby's death. Fourteen years of her doggy company! Of course you'll miss her terribly. Sad

Gosh, edgar, you've certainly had a lot to cope with recently, haven't you?
So my wish is that this week is a very serene & peaceful one for you. And not too hot!

Ah, the rain that plagued us since late May is drying up. The temps will edge ever closer to 99 in the next few weeks. Until now, it has been an incredibly cool summer, thanks to the constant cloud cover, but, barring tropical storms, that's all over now. But, thanks for the wish, anyhow.

She led the good life all her life. I miss her, but she is better off than suffering any longer.

863. I think Punky is feeling a bit insecure, with Baby gone. She is used to picking at her. My wife said that after I drive away each morning, she has been standing in the doorway where Baby slept and barking her most irritating bark. She often ate up all the dry dog food, making herself regurgitate, just to keep Baby from having any. She would at times block the doggie door when Baby needed to pee, making for accidents.

864. I think The Green Mile is an interesting film. I generally don't cotton to Stephen King's tales, but I like this one. It's a bit overly dark, I suppose, but I just watched it a second time today.

865. I think the fuss over gun ownership will only resolve itself after humans somehow evolve to a more developed sense of brotherhood. As they feel more secure, the use will gradually fall away.

Yes, indeed.

But you do miss her, too.

I think a good avatar is hard to come by. Here are the ones I have used on a2k.

When first I came to the forum, I sectioned this photo and switched around the pieces from time to time. But, when I featured the eyes alone, somebody thought it was George Bush, which is why I retired it.

I cropped this from the photo of me at work, made it black and white, and used it for a long time.

This Pogo Possum page. I loved that comic strip growing up.

I may have experimented with a few others, but used none with any consistency. I like the old auto I'm using now. It's a 1928 or 29 Dodge Victory Six. It's the actual car we had for a family auto when I was six.
