My oldest brother and I were adversaries, in more ways than a few. One day, he took to wrestling the younger Blythe brother to the floor. I cast myself in the role of Protector, and scuffled with him, until he sat on my back and then pushed my head down as he jumped up. My front tooth was broken in half. The dentist advised waiting until my 17th birthday before fixing it. By then, it was too rotted to save.
There are no small jobs, only small people.
uncle, 1927
I'm one of these babies, 1942. Don't know who is in the back and on the porch roof.
850. I think the Iraq war will only end when the American people become more demanding about it. Sure, public opinion says "End it" but there's no consequence to pursuing it further. Everyone should send a constant flood of demands to their representatives, until they finally take action.

That would make a nice sig line.
I mean no disrespect, edgar, but what in the hell is that? Is that a person or some sort of yard ornament?
It looks like something a person would tie their horse to.
Jeesuss, gus. That's my uncle, Sussics. I can't tell you why the pic looks so odd. In 1927, my Mom was even smaller than that, so I could never get a straight tale from her about it.
What is he, heightwise? About two feet three?
Today, he is a wrinkled old man, in his 80s. I believe he is about 5' 9".
He appears to be in his eighties in the photo. That's what I find so amazing about it.
Of course, all the people during that time period looked old before their time.
Anyways, your uncle now is being used as wallpaper on my computer.
Just an excellent photo, and I thank you, edgar.

Your oldest brother is holding the finest main battle rifle ever produced by the US ~ the M14.
It is still in service today

I had no idea that Gus was part of your family tree!
I take it all back.....really!

He's actually a father or grandfather to two or three persons that married into the family tree. His name is Gustavson Ratzenhooper, or something.
a picture showing my uncle, in 1927, at a slightly different angle.
856. I think I'm going to miss Baby the dog. She passed quietly away this day. She was at least 14 years old.
857. I think the dog days of summer are going to take a toll, if I let it. However, I am vacationing the third week of August to give some of the hot weather time to drift by.
858. I think my latest thread, There's Gold in Them Thar Clowns, says it all about my daughter's plans to move away, to Colorado.
859. I think the passing of the Bush administration cannot restore the world, or even this nation, to equilibrium. Too much has slipped from the grasp of the common person; most don't seem to know it yet.
860. I think the prices are rising much too fast, in supermarkets and elsewhere. They are blaming it on ethanol, but I don't agree with that assessment.
edgar, I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I know that it's hard to accept the death of a pet even when they've lived a good long life.
