@edgarblythe,
You lucky grandpa! We don't have any grandchildren to spoil. Kind of miss that aspect of life.

I have had to get off the political threads. They get me so wrought up, I am not able to work on my writing assignments. I missed four days of any writing at all. Today, I avoided those threads and finished, easily.

@edgarblythe,
I got nothing done for years when I was on politics. Haven't missed them a bit since I bailed out of a forum called 'Extreme Politics' several years ago.
Managed to crank out several pages yesterday and this morning.

Now if I could only kick this theology thread habit, I'd be done with this project in no time...

@Leadfoot,
Without my computer, I would be lost. But forums and social media can be the devil's playground, without self discipline.

I bought two cans of beer for the New Year celebration at my house. I have been writing and the wife has been playing on Pogo. We ate ham sandwiches for dinner. Just enough to keep from being hungry. For the turning of the year, we have black eyed peas, cabbage and cornbread. I see the coming year as make or break for our society and government. I see a third world war boiling up. Hopefully, we can hold things together on the home front. We are old, but it is conceivable we could live another thirty or more years. The people will face many challenges in that amount of time. We will for the most part watch from the sidelines, if Armageddon does not strike.

@edgarblythe,
You sure that wasn't two barrels? Maybe, 64oz bottles. Armageddon? God forbid.

@edgarblythe,
Happy New Year Edgar. I'm always hopeful at the start of a new year. I always hope bad habits will be corrected, new good habits will replace the bad and hopefully the new year will be better than the last. It's unlikely, but at the stroke of midnight, I think there is hope.

Happy new year. I am a pessimist, of late, as regards the human race. Sorry.

@edgarblythe,
That's interesting, because I believe 2016 is going to be a great year!
Our son is coming home for a visit soon. My wife and I are going to Hawaii to visit with my sister and her husband later this month. My buddy and I are going to Cuba in February and/or March, and the year is just beginning.

Yep, most everyone interprets the future as fitting their own individual outlook.

For the first time ever, I ate quinoa, yesterday. Had the red kind, in a mix with rice. Very good. I read a few times it is good for you. I must google it some day.

Flipping channels, Fifty Shades of Grey was playing. I watched maybe ten minutes. Didn't seem interesting enough to see more.

@cicerone imposter,
I am happy for you, Tak.

Some of us are in serious trouble re relentless payments. I have a lot of negative stuff ahead of me.

@edgarblythe,
I like it so much that I still haven't tried the pearl white quinoa, settled in its jar.

My farro is from Red Mill, but there may be other places to get it, from various source.

To me, it tastes good by itself.

I saw this earlier and was really struck, because it is her 80th birthday photo.
