@edgarblythe,
My buddy and I are going to Cuba in February or March. He's now checking with the owner of a home near downtown Havana if we could stay at their place.
We have many friends there from our travels to that country.
@Ragman,
Watched 'Cuban Chrome', Fantastic, thanks for the tip. My first car was a throwaway 55 Mercury that had to be repaired that same makeshift way. The people in Cuba today remind me of the people I met in 1960s Miami.
People have become fanatical about seeing "A Christmas Story" every year. The BB gun recalls for me memories of a cousin that had one. Like most of my step father's family, he was slightly unhinged. His bedroom was very close to the mobile home slept in by three of my brothers and I. Every evening, about nine, we walked to the trailer house from the canvass tent my parents were in, and sometimes, we quietly talked. We had no idea the cousin felt annoyed by the talk, until the night we approached and he pointed his BB gun out the window. He commenced yelling about all the noise and then began blasting BBs in our direction, as fast as he could get the gun to fire, all the while shouting, "Shut up. Shut up. Shut up." He missed. We waited for him to run out of steam, then quietly went to bed. The last story I ever heard, concerning that guy, he was committing a burglary, when a police officer came in to take him. The cop found the cousin hiding in a closet, with pistol in hand. The cop slapped the gun loose and proceeded to handcuff him. I seriously doubt the cousin is alive, now, but will never know.
Had a good day. Two grandsons came, from Austin and Colorado. I had not seen one of them in close to seven years. Both are not only high school graduates, pursuing the higher educations, they are self supporting, at eighteen and nineteen. Both are taller than me, but I have bowlegs and their legs are straight.
All of my grandkids make me proud.
@edgarblythe,
edgar, thats a wonderful thing, you should be happy and Im pretty sure you are.
I know a grandparent nearly always feels proud, but by golly these kids are exceptional, in my eyes.
Scam got me. I saw on television, Dr Oz praising a skin care product. I wanted a sample of it for my wife. When I saw an ad on Facebook for that very product, and it had Dr Oz's photo on the page, I let down my guard and ordered it. Supposedly $4.95 each, for two separate samples of products. But, after that, I could no longer contact these people. Google ad complaints about it being a scam. They automatically dip into your checking account, monthly, for about a hundred dollars. I ended up having to cancel my Visa card, just to make certain they could not do me like that.
Here is a link to these bastards, just in case anybody else is as dumb as me.

@edgarblythe,
Those bastards. Don't feel like the lone ranger, there are more scams than Carter's little liver pills, we all get taken at one time or another
I was lucky my wife clued me to look for it, before too late.
@edgarblythe,
We're getting more phone calls from 800-numbers which we usually ignore, but there are also legit companies trying to get us to answer. The latest was our credit card company about some fraudulent charges.
We don't give out personal info even for those calls.
We can see the telephone number on our tv screen when we get a phone call.
@cicerone imposter,
While I was driving to the bank I got a text message to sell me more of the same kind of product used by the scammers.
And I got the products I paid the money for and they are good products. It was the continuing billing, without permission, I was fighting back against.
@edgarblythe,
You need to report that to the state District Attorney.
@cicerone imposter,
Perhaps. I did not delete it.
@edgarblythe,
C.I. is right, report it to the States Attorney, and I'll check on who to contact on the Federal level.
@glitterbag,
Ooops! That's right, it's the States Attorney. Thanks for the correction.
One present I got for Christmas was a pair of house shoes. I asked my daughter how she picked the size. She said that they are supposed to fit the average man. I replied, "I am no average man." Sure enough, the shoes were way too small. I am not such a large person, but am proportioned differently from most others. One time, when I lived in New York City, I went inside a store that specialized in suits for men. They had at least two stories of suits. After spending five minutes with a salesman, he told me there was no suit in the store that could fit me. Either the jackets were too small or the pants too large. I though later that I possibly could have bought one of each, then switched pants. My feet are so wide that I have to buy size eleven, even though a ten should work. I used to buy Mason shoes by mail, because they made my precise size. But for the past five or more years they have quit having those. The largest ring I have been able to find is 13. I have to settle for that then get it sized half a size larger. This weakens the rings and they must be continually repaired. I used to wonder why James Cagney wore such loose pants. But I learned in time that relaxed fit, for one like me, is the only way to go.
My grand daughter just asked me to walk her down the aisle, in February.
@edgarblythe,
Thats lovely Edgar, what a special thing.
