Some of us never quit litening. We add new, but cling to the old.

It's funny but as I get older, I seem to listen less and less to music, certainly not much new stuff.

The older material (to me) has more appeal and character to it, but then I only hear it if it's on TV or radio.

My music collection is in large part who I am. Been collecting recorded music since 1958.

I think we touched on this before, but does that include any 78s? I know that's going back a bit, but surprisingly some folks still have them.

So, do you maintain a phonograph turntable, tape, and CD player? Or, have you transferred everything to CD?

I no longer have 78s. I do maintain a turntable, tape and CD player. The past few years I have been getting duplicate albums on CD to be able to hear them when I'm driving. At home, it's mostly vinyl.

416. I think I need comfort food this evening: beer and pizza.

417. I think I will never get used to walking through a crowd, and many or most of them on cell phones, constantly. What do they have to talk about it can't wait?

418. I think what kind of poem could be written about red rubber roses?

419. I think WOW a movie about the Simpsons, after all these years. What could it be about they haven't done?

420. I think will news organizations ever resort to reporting news truthfully?

it's even worse with the bluetooth headsets

now it just looks like they're talking to them selves, if you don't see the ear piece

A guy that worked with me, up until a few months ago, worked that way. Residents would call the office to inform us he was out there talking to himself.

speaking of the news, what ever happened to newsmen

when walter cronkite was reporting a story, you got the impression he knew what he was talikg about, not that he was a pretty face who could read a teleprompter

apart from the crew on 60 minutes, i don't think there's a single person on the major nightly news broadcasts who isn't just a talking head

It no longer matters the organization, I just don't trust these people.
Speaking of Cronkite, I always felt he skewed the truth about Vietnam at least a couple of years before he came down on the side of truthfulness.

i hear you, i was thinking more along the lines of the professional acumen of the reporters

as for the truth, sometimes i really want to know, and other times, well, ignorance is bliss, or so i've been told

How is it that our phone calls become so crucial that we couldn't possibly wait until later to talk to someone? Have phone calls become that important?

What's wrong with leaving a message and getting back to them? We still use answering machines (not "voice mail") and it seems to work just fine. I've found things not that urgent that it could not wait for a bit.

When was it that folks were willing to put their lives, and those around them, at risk when they use their cell phones when they drive? Is it a sense of self-importance? Look at me, I'm in such demand, etc, etc.

Why are phone calls so important?

Me, I hate talking on the phone and probably will never own a cell phone.

421. I think I may have to physically chastise the ground crew guy with a blower that puts his trash in the swimming pool every week. That, or, most reasonably, get his boss to make him quit. Makes me no never mind. (Well, I don't like the idea of getting beat up, so I will probably adopt the latter course of action).

422. I think I should have mowed the grass today. Ah, what do I know? It will wait.

423. I think I will reacquaint myself with a few Brette Harte stories this week. I particularly like The Outcasts of Poker Flat.

424. I think I need to pick up the pace on my current writing project. Much too slow.

425. I think it's ridiculous that a battery for a drill can cost nearly a hundred dollars. Maybe if they could be made to last about twenty years.

426. I think it's strange, my neice, who has had diabetes for most of her life, was told her pancreas has not worked in 26 years. I'm not sure how they know this, but, she had pancreatic problems that many years ago. It boggles my head to think no one has ever had a clue, until now.

427. I think the Berlin Wall of Iraq may not be built, after all; the Berlin Wall of America, also.

428. I think Al Gore will toss his hat in the ring.

429. I think the economy is doing great- -if one happens to be rich or very well off.

430. I think I've been gyped. The apartments were put up for sale. The staff was offered a substantial bonus to stay and perform our jobs, same as always, through the transfer of ownership. After nearly half a year, they pulled the apartments off the market and cancelled our promised bonuses, reasoning, the property was not sold; therefore the promise cannot exist. Hmm . . .

431. I think I may soon have a partner on the job. Finally, a good man is coming out to look us over, and perchance be interviewed. He would share the pager, and would take my place when I leave there. He already has a job just like mine, but his property has been sold, and will be demolished.

432. I think it's interesting, Charles Dickens had a son that worked with Canadian authorities during the time of dealing with Sitting Bull, after Custer was killed. He didn't live long. Dead of a heart attack at age, I believe, 42.

433. I think the Democrats in office need to be a bit tougher in dealing with Bush.

434. I think my wife's Toyota is the most reliable car we have ever had. I would definitely buy another.

435. I think it odd that more people are not demanding voting machines that are accountable, in things as important as national elections.

In 2004, we bought a Toyota Echo hatchback (4 door model), and have never regreted it. Best car we've ever had.

It looks like this one, except for the spoiler and fancy wheels.
