1305a. I finally came across a copy of Catcher in the Wry Smile Will read it in the upcoming weak, if posserous.
1306a. facebook changed my link to my newest account so that I had to go back to the original account. The good thing is, they made it non-intrusive to restore my access to it. Sprig 'em, says eye.
1307a. Tomorrow begins Octuber. Nuts in the stores. Fall colored leaves. Crisp mornings and rain. Ending with Halloween and the start of Holiday Seasoning. Merry 2012, y'allses.

@edgarblythe,
Being a NE-er and a photographer, I have serious fall-foliage color withdrawl here. One season's foliage is a lot like the others (summer). After all, palm trees don't change colors. You have to really search to find the trees that change color (some gold and yellow).

Catcher in the Rye was one of my faves a teen and young man. I haven't read it again in over 45 yrs.

@Ragman,
I have intended to read Catcher since I was in my twenties, but never found the right moment in time. I have officially run out of excuses.

@edgarblythe,
Talk about staying power, I just read this factoid on Catcher:

"Around 250,000 copies are sold each year, with total sales of more than 65 million books"

@Ragman,
The first few pages are not that engaging. I assume it builds as one reads.

Not really, Edgar. It's hard to describe exactly what it was that was engaging about it.

@edgarblythe,
I think that you'll find as you read on, you'll get pretty involved. 65M purchasers of the book in 60 yrs can't all be wrong.

Not a very compelling argument, Ragman.

300 hundred some million Americans have though/think [for over 200 years] that the US is a benevolent nation.

@edgarblythe,
I admit, edgar, that I was not a major fan and couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about. Good, not great. I hope you enjoy it.

Ah, sweet alienated youth.

That's simply another of the "hey look, a squirrel" routines, Ragman.

I noted, didn't I, that y'all were famous for them?

This is the "I think" thread, Rockhead. You're way out of your depth.

@JTT,
you might think so, jtt.

I don't have a problem with that.

I think...

that edgar deserves better than this on his thread.

and in saying so, Ima share my jtt theory and then follow my own advice.

if nobody responds to his childish remarks, he will soon tire of talking to hisself, and mostly go away.

or grow up and participate like a sorta normal person

I promise...

@Rockhead,
On that note, you're wrong about 100 percent. JTT will not change - in his lifetime or ours. His message is always the same written in different prose. He's a bore, and he's one of the few on my Ignore list.

How many different ways can you say "the?"
