1295a. I could not get on line this time yesterday. I have a man coming tomorrow to install cable internet.

How did this go, Edgar? We've had it for years and been quite happy with it, for the most part.

It's not tomorrow, yet.

Oh, sorry! Embarrassed

I thought I was reading a post from Tuesday. Laughing

ATT DSL is not that different than dial up. The cable service almost automatically has to be better.

1300a. Not too happy with the lead guy on the job this week. Tuesday he set out to replace a garbage disposer. Twenty minute job, right? He took most of the afternoon and only succeeded in cracking a drain pipe and even put the gasket on the wrong side of the plate. Then he said he had car trouble and stayed home, making it necessary for me to do the job. I could live with it, but was a bit disillusioned with him. So the new hand started yesterday and he stood around talking with that guy the whole time I was present, accomplishing nothing, but expecting certain things from me. I quit trying to be any help to him and began catching up on things I have been putting off. I don't plan to put up with this much longer.
1301. The weather is getting nice. Soon I can get back to outside projects at home. Got lots to do - expand my storage bldg., finish siding the back wall, get the yard back in shape - I need a vacation.

@edgarblythe,
Sorry you have to endure that stuff. You'd think they'd have some common sense and/or decency?

@Ragman,
The new guy came willing to perform. I hope this guy does not ruin him for work before he gets a chance to prove himself.

1302. Cable guys came and went. They told me the hook up is too far from my house. That a man from the company will come around and assess the situation. Comcast is the prevalent cable of the neighborhood. So I will wait a few days and if I hear nothing from Charter, then Comcast may be the next move.
1303a. I spent much of the afternoon with my brother and sister in law. They had leaky plumbing. I think I got the entire problem fixed.
1304a. My moringa trees suddenly have many yellow leaves. A web site asserts that it is caused by the change in the weather. The nights more and more are slipping into the 60s and even 50s.

@edgarblythe,
Our climate here in Silicon Valley is going to warm up to the mid-90's this weekend, but the evenings are cooling to the mid-fifties. Leaves are slowly beginning to drop, and when it becomes heavy, it'll provide me an excuse to work outside.....

Well, I'm sure that was a let-down for you.

Is Comcast more expensive than Charter for you? Is this why you initially picked them?

Hope something works out for you.

@Reyn,
Comcast makes me think they will raise the rates after the initial contract ends. Charter has no contract. What I really don't like about Comcast is, their people have been a pain in the arss at the apartments for years. They mess up lots of connections and such and I have to fix them.

@edgarblythe,
FWIW, I recall Charter has had a spotty past and has re-emerged from bankuptcy. Not saying your even considering them for your house, I'd never use them. Their support and corporate support has been questionable at best.

Interesting stuff about their new business direction. They seem to be in last place -- 4th of the 4 major cable companies.

@edgarblythe,
They will definitely raise the rates after the initial period is over, but you can still get a discount if you extend your contract.

@edgarblythe,
Interesting thing is FT. Worth Charter comm. closed their support office 3 yrs ago.

For the record, Comcast in many locations has poor ratings for tech support.

There are other DSL providers, besides ATT. I intend to check them out this weekend.
