1210a. The moringa tree that I trimmed is trying to grow upward from the top. I pinched off some new growth yesterday. It shows signs of beginning the process of bushing out lower down, but not all the way as yet. The other trees are getting tall now, but have far to go to get as high as this one.

So, will you have to constantly trim the top growth, so the tree will bush out at the sides?

@Reyn,
I am not certain if it is forever or temporary. No big deal, however, as they are easily pinched off.

1213a. That damned storm won't get moving. I pity the poor souls having to endure it. I imagine my son may be in the dark these days, as he lives in LA.
1214a. Tried to watch the speeches last night, but could not endure.
1215a. Have not watched a good movie or TV show lately. A new series getting advertised these days, for the fall, apparently has the central characters in revolution against the US govt. Likely one of those programs that begins with a big bang, peters out during the season and fails to get renewed.
Also advertised is a new Sherlock Holmes series, with Watson played by a woman. I plan to check it out. I don't feel any enthusiasm for it, but -

Yes, the show that you're thinking of is this one:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2191671/

It's an Americanised version of this English Sherlock TV series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlock_(TV_series), set in modern times, starring Benedict Cumberbatch (as Sherlock) and Martin Freeman (as Holmes). This series is quite good.

Now, whether Elementary will be as good as that, I'm a bit skeptical. I don't know Jonny Miller, but I have seen Lucy Liu in several shows. I like her. She's a good action star.

If nothing else, I'm sure we'll tune in and have a look.

Thanks reyn. Good production values and writing could turn it into a good show. We shall see.

1216a. My DSL router signal comes and goes these days. I need a new one or to change services. Leaning to going cable, but have first to discern whether my account is month to month or under year long contract. I think I am on year five with ATT. The only way to confirm is to give them a call.
1217a. I have yet to read a good assessment of Romney's acceptance speech. I was too busy watching football to listen first hand.
1218a. The humidity is high, even for Houston. Most uncomfortable morning of the year.
1219a. Today is my 34TH Anniversary. Or 35TH. I better confirm before Mrs edgarblythe comes home. Mr. Green

Whoops! You're not sure on your anniversary date?! Whoa, for sure confirm before your wife gets home! Laughing

I have a system where I write it down that keeps me out of trouble. Wink

Anyways, happy anniversary to you and your wife! Do the Moringa!

1220a. Three day weekend. What does Labor Day mean to me? I know that but for unions it would not be a holiday. Other than that, it's just a pleasant break, in the hot days of winding down summer.
1221a. Looks as if I will attend an a2k get together, in November. It is uncertain how many will attend. Don't want to mention names, for fear of leaving someone out. PDiddie lives right in Houston. We considered it a time or two, but our paths have never crossed.

1222a. When Romney asks the Reagan question, "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?" the answer has to be: The nation as a whole is better off, because the precipice of depression to rival the Great Depression was drawn back from and we have leveled out and are slowly moving in the direction of prosperity. Despite neverending Republican obstructionism and two unpaid for wars. Can they afford to be this intransigent another four years, if Obama gets reelected?
1223a. Had to work yesterday. Shorter hours than normal. But it was tough, in the heat, dragging refrigerators around and reswinging one's door for the apartment I put it in.
1224a. I am amazed at the new lottery game set to start up Sept 9. It draws four times daily, seven days per week. For a state that makes gambling semi illegal, that seems an awful lot like casino style gambling. One could spend an entire paycheck in a lot less than seven days.
1225a. The moringa plant begun in a flower pot and transplanted outside, on a mound of storebought dirt, is beginning to catch up with the biggest one. It has already outgrown the third outdoor tree. The one in a pot on the porch is not getting the sunlight to get big quickly. But it will be the more protected in the cold weather. Long range, I can't say which will be the best overall plant.
1225a. Yeah, I know running so many words together is wrong. So sue me.

I didn't notice anything wrong, Ed. You might be thinking of some old wives tale taught to you in a grammar class long long ago.

@edgarblythe,
spell checker or grammar checker, Ed. The former is an easy thing for computers to do, the latter virtually impossible especially when it's been programmed by grammar incompetents.

1226a. The A/C my lead man and I worked on, on Friday, is leaking badly. I told him the coil was no longer trustworthy, but he wanted just to be done with our project and move to other projects. I may have to change it out today, but a good shot of freon might keep it going until we open for business tomorrow.
1227a. It's entertaining to watch my neighbor, when she hires a carpenter or technician. She is at the person's elbow the entire time, telling how to do it and often lending a hand. She was on top of her roof last week, energetically moving from point to point as the roofer followed her and did her bidding. I have to admit that she is very knowledgeable and is right more often than not.
1228a. My thread of old time country music is a way of connecting with the past, when my mother would keep the radio playing all day long. I listened as much as she and for my sixth birthday she got the DJ to play Little Joe the Wrangler for me. My first favorite artist was Hank Williams. For a time, during late teens and early twenties, I disliked country. Eventually, the animosity faded and today I love many songs I once derided.

1229a. Mrs edgarblythe has already gone to her job. I don't like getting up so early, but, once the alarm sounds, I cannot rest.
1230a. The record player brother Sam bequeathed me no longer functions. Going to dig out the old one that a resident left in his apartment when moving to a retirement home. It works alright, but needs better speakers. It's not pretty, but, was made in an older style, meaning a bit more rugged than the crap turntables most makers put together these days.
1231a. Michael Clarke Duncan was one of the few actors I singled out to truly like these days. Sad to see him pass away so young.
1232a. The new TV season is soon to begin. Neil Patrick Harris, the guy once known as Doogie Howser, plays Barney on How I Met Your Mother. The new season will open on what is his purported wedding day. The bride, a stripper. Somehow, I think it will not happen. Then, the Mentalist has to reinstate himself with the law after the fiasco on the last episode. It was a dissatisfying storyline. Hope he does better this season. Some new shows are in the works. Hope a winner or two is among them.

Yes, I know what you mean.

I found out a little earlier this year that the long time owner of a furnace servicing company died of cancer in March 2012. He was 60 years old.

This is a company that we used for very many years, and also had a new high efficiency furnace installed in 2004. The owner most times came and did the servicing.

Anyways, the last time he serviced our our furnace was in 2010, and he mentioned to do future servicing every 2 years, so it's due this month.

I remember him talking to me about not feeling good, and he was due to have some treatments. I wished him all the best, and hoped for a positive outcome. So, I was really sad for him and his family that he didn't survive.

The positive thing about this is that the family is carrying on with the company, with the children (who had been involved before) changing the name of the company to the family surname to honor their father in memorium. So, very nice!

The youngest son will be coming out to do the servicing this time. I last met him in 2004, when he helped with the installation of our then new furnace. Also, because we have been long time customers, they will carry on giving us the loyalty discount that we have had for a long time.

I will agree with you, Edgar, your assessment of the last episode. I, too, hope that storylines improve. Although, I'm sure that they will carryon with the endless Red John stuff, that's really getting old. Time to wipe the slate clean!

1233a. When they began the switch in freon types for air conditioning, they continued to make the condensers that use R22 freon. They will not be providing new R22, but it will still be around for the foreseeable future. Lately they began filling these with nitrogen. That means the technician will have to empty them before use and provide freon on their own. My lead man and I replaced a condenser and evaporator coil yesterday. We used one out of the storage that was full of R22. After I went home, he and the manager had a dispute over whether or not we were trying to run this one on nitrogen. She called me to explain that we bought a number of these "dry" units. So I had to tell her that I know about this and that I was careful to note what kind we were installing. The dry ones have green lettering explaining the change. She admitted that no one had complained about our installation.
1234a. I loved Mrs Obama's speech. I heard a TV commentator state that she wrote it herself.
1235a. My wife woke up hoarse this morning. That's what happens when one works at a day care. I try to get her to use colloidal silver the same way I do, but she has had people frighten her away from that. She will likely have to go to a doctor.
