@Reyn,
The leaves can be used in any recipe that calls for spinach, for one. But I don't like cooked spinach. I have eaten them raw three times, now and so far feel incined to eat them as you would a salad. Dried, they are supposed to enhance the flavor of different dishes also.
1196a. Mrs edgarblythe has started her new job. She has to be in Tomball by 6 every morning. I worry a little about her driving there, because at that time of day deer are all over the place. Lately they have been on the road in spots we never saw any before.
1197a. A kid was on a thread of mine, asking to use one of my lyrics in class, noting that he is expected there to write a new lyric on his own. I hope he gets an F for taking it.
1198a. I think I will search youtube for the new Bob Dylan song about the Titanic.

Good luck to her! I hope it goes well. That certainly is an early morning. How long is the drive?
@edgarblythe,
They have those deer warning signals that sits on the hood of a car, and they're not expensive.
This is what I'm talking about.
http://sav-a-life.com/deeralert_brch.htm?gclid=CJSasLLI_rECFWThQgodRAgAPg
It is about a 17 minute drive.
I have heard of those things before, CI, but never met anybody using them.
@edgarblythe,
they don't work.
but they sold millions of them...
Thing about the deer around here, they are generally not on the road when you approach. Instead, they start running from a good distance to the side and burst on the scene from out of the brush. The last two collisions I had with deer, they simply ran without heed for the traffic. One hit the side of my car and the other jumped in front of me, the way squirrels do. Both got up and staggered away. I kind of think they were okay in the end.
@edgarblythe,
Yeah, I know what you mean!
I've never had a close call with a deer yet, but you sure got to watch those darn squirrels on the road!
Small animals often stand still to keep from getting noticed. Squirrels have yet to figure it out that cars keep coming no matter what.
1198a. We survived the week, but we both, mrs edgarblythe and I, have to do Sunday duty. She, because it is a Lutheran owned organization; me, because the owners of the property will be here.
1199a. If you have hours to waste trying to keep an Internet connection, sign for ATT.
1200a. I want to put an Obama bumper sticker on my truck, but I fear the truck and or my house might get vandalized and worse. That's because the freedom lovers seek to keep everybody in lock step.
@edgarblythe,
Quote:That's because the freedom lovers seek to keep everybody in lock step.
I've noticed that here at A2K too, Ed.
@edgarblythe,
We used to have AT&T until they cut off our internt connection without any warning even when we had a dedicated line just for our computers.
We now have Comcast (the whole bundle), and we used to have cut-off problems, but a tech came out and did something outside that fixed the problem. He said we can buy a booster for $50 that will eliminate this problem.
1201a. So, the owners of the apartments were in town on Sunday. After we did all we did, as I said my good-byes, the senior owner said they love me and gave me a hug. Made my day.
1202a. My internet connection comes and goes these days. I need to change companies.
1203a. One advantage to having no connection, I had time to clean up my desk and file cabinets.
1204a. That pesky storm could decide to come this way. They claim it is not likely, but Ike was all over the place before coming through here.
@edgarblythe,
I think that storm is hitting NOLA, the going towards the big B.
@cicerone imposter,
That's right, CI. It's not even big, comparatively speaking.
1205a. Our area will be to the dry side of the storm. They speculated we would get a northerly wind to dry out the air, but now not much more of a stirring. Today is expected to be extremely hot. Very low impact from Isaac.
1206a. Last few years I watched ABC's Wipeout a number of times. This season it seems the courses contestants follow have gotten lame. It just takes a minute or two to decide to walk away or change the channel.
1207a. Anticipating September, when the days remain hot, but the nights get cool.
1208a. Swiftboats fill the political air, increasingly, as the election grows near. Will the public get fooled sufficiently to vote against their best interests, once again? Only a fool would say.

That's real nice to hear that some employers still appreciate their employees! You must be doing something right!
@Reyn,
We hugged once about five or six years ago. He came in and hugged the female staff. I jokingly put out my arms to get mine and he went for it.
1209a. A man I know has tattoos on the neck. He cannot afford treatments to remove them. He wears makeup when working. It's a miserable thing and cautionary tale for his children.
1210a. The moringa tree that I trimmed is trying to grow upward from the top. I pinched off some new growth yesterday. It shows signs of beginning the process of bushing out lower down, but not all the way as yet. The other trees are getting tall now, but have far to go to get as high as this one.
1211a. The weather forecast has now said we may get a few showers related to the storm. I am not particularly hopeful about it.
1212a. I would love a break from politics, but the persistence of the teabagger wave of emotion keeps me engaged.
