Then why does everyone want to move here if we are so horrible?

Don't be ridiculous. Do you really suggest that the 6,400,000,000 people currently living outside the USA have no other goal in life than to live inside the USA?

Immigration is a fact and in the case of the United States even the foundation of modern society. Major components of the United States population are descendants from immigrants from countries like Germany (19.2 %), Italy (5.6 %), Scandinavia (3.7 %) or Poland (3.2 %) - all non-English speaking countries. And you have Africa and Asia, of course. And recently Latin America.

However, the highest percentages of migrants in the labour force are found in the Gulf States: 90 % in the United Arab Emirates, 86 % in Qatar, 82 % in Kuwait and 64 % in Oman.

And in absolute numbers, it would look like this:

(source: BBC: Factfile Global Migration)

The statement that "everyone wants to move here" is hardly warranted.

Actually I have. I also lived in California for twenty some years. That isn't really part of the U.S. either. Laughing

I have spent a lot of time in the States. I have been working in the USA for quite some time, and in more than one region, too. I have visited most states, and certainly been to more places in the US than many Americans. These days, I spend no more than a couple of weeks each year in the US.

However, I don't see how this pertains to the issues we are discussing. Are you saying you spend a lot of time in Iran? Or the Middle East? Or in Asia? Or maybe in Europe?

Or are you saying that you should be limited to US topics and refrain from talking about international issues?

Because the only people who live in the USA who want to leave are entertainers, either because they hate Bush or they want privacy. That and maybe people wanted by the law.

Nobody who moves here ever leaves. Is that clearer? Should I add more italics or something?

A very good friend of mine, a historian, has moved from Virginia to the UK. He's living in York now. You must be mistaken.

Actually, this whole "nobody who moves here ever leaves" theme is just another manifestation of exactly the superiority complex, including, but not limited to:

- America is the best nation in the world
- nobody who moves here ever leaves
- everybody wants to move to America
- all other countries are inferior

cjhsa is a nice illustration of that mindset.

sorry is this the nuke iran thread or the nuke korea thread?

So many threats to America, so many to be nuked.

ps are you going to nuke Iran before or after you ask them for help sorting out Iraq?

And whilst I'm at it which were the original axis of evil?

Iran
Iraq
N Korea
Syria
Cuba

and how are they doing? Iran, dominant in the region, well on the way to nuclear power and probably weapons. Iraq invaded because of wmd, didnt have any. A quagmire for the US. N Korea...starving people overjoyed now they have the 'happy' nuclear bomb...are you telling me there wasnt a better way that this? Syria, vulnerable in Lebanon but like Iran have the Americans by the ballis in Iraq. Cuba....good 'ol Fidel still going, how many US presidents has he seen come and go? Still on the island still doing things their own way, sticking two fingers up at the US and getting cheap oil and food from Chavez in Venezuala. Seems to me Bush's axis of evil speech was a rallying call for those on the list to show America who's boss.

As are the literally thousands of people that I've met who've relocated here, without one ever leaving for good.

I keep hoping Alec Baldwin will make good on his promise and relocate, but so far, no luck.

For those considering moving to the U.S., please, do so the right way and become a citizen.

Iraq attacks kill 10 US soldiers

The United States military in Iraq says a marine and nine soldiers have been killed in Iraq, including four in a roadside bombing near Baghdad.

The blast struck the soldiers' vehicle as they travelled west of the capital.

Three more were killed in the restive Diyala province, north of Baghdad. The three others died in separate attacks.

The deaths come as US-led forces in Iraq experience a surge in casualties in insurgency attacks; more than 60 US troops have been killed this month.

Clearer? I think people already know that you make things up as you go along.

There is a long history of immigrants to the U.S. (and other countries) returning to their country of origin. There are the Italians for example ...

Quote:
It is true that even the immigrants who, after a stay of some years, return to Italy with their savings have contributed to the wealth of the United States a great deal more than the sums they take away

There are a few things that cjhsa appears to be knowledgeable about: guns and Ted Nugent. OK, two things. All the rest is an ongoing campaign to provoke his political foes and an endless need for attention...

In that case, you and the literally thousands of people suffer from the same superiority complex. Gorby seems to be right.
