Here's my five for Gautam next year. A trade, Gautam for Slappy, sounds intriguing, but I also want to meet Slappy. Both Slappy and Gautam would make for a memorable evening!!
Have any of you seen the Cagle cartoon of the Justices after the decision? Renquist, Scalia and Thomas are holding signs with the number zero on them. Sandra Day O'Connor's sign says 41--well, you get the idea....

Wow, I can't believe it. When I left work here last night a wild Coyote ran in front of my car and into the Oracle parking lot.

Burlington is pretty well developed and isn't that far from Boston. I've seen lots of Hawks in this area (bobsmyth birds), but I've never seen a Coyote in this area before. It was panting heavily and looked pretty annoyed with the heat.

Never thought I would need a rifle to protect myself from the critters here in the parking lot at work. Sheesh.

rosborne - you most certainly do not need any protection from a coyote.

Urban Coyotes in this area are reported to kill house pets, and sometimes to bite small children (I remember a couple of incidents last year on the south shore), but adults almost never get attacked by healthy Coyotes.

This Coyote looked skinny, but otherwise relatively healthy. No obvious signs of Rabies that I could see (no foaming at the mouth or drunken/aggressive behavior).

Although... I think that it's very unusual to see one in the open in daylight like that. I heard from our security guys that it scared the hell out of one of the other employees heading to her car later that evening.

When you said "region," I thought you were talking to the Boston group collectively.

But it's almost hot enough for me....gotta go turn that a/c up...
