Must be something going around, johnboy. I slid off the road ten miles above Stanley Tuesday afternoon, and had to wait almost three hours for a tow truck to pull me back on the road. The dog enjoyed playing ball on the highway in the snow, though. The pass is now closed, and probably will be until April. Such is life in the boondocks.....

Glad you're ok, RJB. And good about the deal. And watch your unless-I-get-hit-by-a-bus quips..

3 hours stuck in a ditch in the snow? How cold was it and were you able to stay warm?

I am missing a pick from Ms Cowdoc in the Cleveland-Baltimore game.

Yes, Pan, Cville had a city bus system way back into the early 1960's. But it was a small town, so there were only about 5 routes. And then, like now, they shut down at night and didn't run on Sundays.
I was in high school in the City from 1960 through 1964. There were no school buses then. Sometimes I would walk the couple or three miles home in order to save the 15 cent fare but sometimes I would walk up to Main Street 3 blocks from the school to catch the Rugby Road/Greenleaf Terrace bus from in front of Gleason's Bakery. The route went through the UVA campus (or grounds, as we snootily call it).
William Faulkner lived in Cville at the time. There was another gentleman in town who looked amazingly like Faulkner. And he knew it. He worked in a men's clothing store but took to wearing tweed jackets with the patches on the sleeves and a pipe in the breast pocket, bowl end up. He would often be on the same bus taking Johnboy home from school.
UVA students getting on board were in awe, convinced they were on the same bus as William Faulkner. The guy never said he was Faulkner when some student approached him, but he never went out of his way to explain that he wasn't Faulkner either.

Ms. Cowdoc takes Baltimore. She says red over brown any day, whatever that means. As far as my time on the road goes, it was in the high twenties and snowing, but my dog had a great time chasing a ball up and down the road while we were waiting. We got a bit wet, but it's easy to stay warm in this country with the temp that high.

I have 2 picks I'd like to change:

Chiefs instead of the Chargers,

Cardinals instead of the Broncos.

Thanks.

I think the Chiefs might be fired up because of Lamar Hunt's passing. Plus, this is a must win for them.

As far as the Cardinals, I'm just being a homer. (I'm moving to Phoenix area soon. ) Plus they've been playing better ... and they're at home. And Denver has a rookie quarterback.

Basically, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, as evidenced by my record in this thread. Laughing

I was surprised that the game in Seattle got played given the dreadful weather. I haven't heard from my sister-in-law or from my niece and her husband in Portland. I have heard from other folks I know in that region. Some withou5t power and some with property damage.

You got me to thinking.....I'm sticking with San Diego and ...let's face it, it's L.T.'s year

but I'm switching to Cincy from Indy...Indy's running defense is so ....uhm...
