Okay, folks, here is the schedule for week #1 of the NFL:

****Sept 7 @ 8:30 pm-
Miami @ Pittsburgh
****Sept 10 @ 1:00 pm or so-
Seattle @ Detroit
Philadelphia @ Houston
New York Jets @ Tennessee
New Orleans @ Cleveland
Denver @ St Louis
Cincinatti @ Kansas City
Buffalo @ New England
Baltimore @ Tampa Bay
Atlanta @ Carolina
****Sept 10 @ 4:15 pm or so-
Chicago @ Green Bay
San Francisco @ Arizona
Dallas @ Jacksonville
Indianapolis @ New York Giants
****Sept 11 @ 8:00 pm or so-
Minnesota @ Washington
San Diego @ Oakland

16 games this 1st week. All you have to do is predict who will win each game. And, oh yes, you need to guess the total number of points the two teams in the last game (San Diego vs Oakland) will score. Your selections must be posted here before the start of the 1st game (Sept 7 @ 8:30 pm). All times are ET.

That is all there is to participating. No registration. No secret password. And, if you are successful over the course of the season, you might get to hold the coveted trophy that we award at the end of the year.

A Gentle Plea from Johnboy: please check to be sure that you have made a selection in each of the games and don't forget to predict the total number of points scored in the last game. Thank yall for playing.

At the beginning of last season, in the early weeks, I would include each team's prior year record. Since players move around so much, that is probably not very meaningful.
This conglomeration of stats is also probably not all that pertinent, but here goes:

The NFL teams have had pre-season games. Listed below are the records for each team in the 3 or 4 games thus far (with one more week of the pre-season to go). Also listed is what is called PF/PA - which is Points For/Points Against. A measure perhaps of each team's Offense/Defense at this point.

The teams are listed according to the predicted order of finish by Sporting News magazine.

AFC East:
1. New England Patriots (won 2 lost 1)(PF94/PA29)
2. Miami Dolphins (1-2)(49/60)
3. Buffalo Bills (0-3)(61/78)
4. New York Jets (1-2)(37/43)
AFC North:
1. Baltimore Ravens (1-2)(43/57)
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-3)(30/54)
3. Cincinnati Bengals (2-0)(63/24)
4. Cleveland Browns (2-1)(47/53)
AFC South:
1. Indianapolis Colts (1-2)(61/63)
2. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1)(70/61)
3. Tennessee Titans (0-3)(32/74)
4. Houston Texans (2-0)(51/34)
AFC West:
1. San Diego Chargers (2-1)(51/47)
2. Denver Broncos (1-1)(48/30)
3. Kansas City Chiefs (1-2)(30/53)
4. Oakland Raiders (4-0)(76/33)

The NFC follows in a bit.

Moving on to the NFC:

NFC East:
1. Philadelphia Eagles (2-2)(56/50)
2. Washington Redskins (0-3)(17/87)
3. Dallas Cowboys (3-0)(60/17)
4. New York Giants (3-0)(47/23)
NFC North:
1. Chicago Bears (1-2)(54/54)
2. Minnesota Vikings (2-1)(60/33)
3. Detroit Lions (1-2)(39/54)
4. Green Bay Packers (1-1)(41/27)
NFC South:
1. Carolina Panthers (3-0)(50/33)
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-2)(44/45)
3. Atlanta Falcons (2-1)(56/67)
4. New Orleans Saints (1-2)(40/73)
NFC West:
1. Seattle Seahalks (1-2)(53/61)
2. St Louis Rams (1-2)(51/60)
3. Arizona Cardinals (2-1)(47/59)
4. San Francisco 49ers (2-1)(42/54)

I took out my trusty green and red highlighters and, um, highlighted some positives and negatives. The Patriots, the Raiders, the Saints and the Deadskins got either positive or negative marks.
I don't know ehther this helps or not. Pan should be doing the analysis. Anyone seen Pan lately?

And, finally, thanks, Edgar for your picks. There is no urgency as kickoff is a week and a half away.
It is NOT necessary to post the score in each game. Just predict which team will win. In the final game of the weekend, you do need to pick the total number of points that the two teams score COMBINED. Perhaps I wasn't clear about that.
And you can change your picks if you want. Just post your revision here.

I was feeling a bit despondent about this last night. But we are now up to 9 (including johnboy who has yet to pick). I am thinking we will end up 5 or 6 more. Let the nagging begin!
