Sigh. Whenever johnboy writes in the 3rd person, he is not happy.

It was a mere year ago that Johnboy sat on what passes for Gus's porch outside of what passes for his "house" (snicker) there in the swamp. We drank a bunch of Pabst Blue Ribbons. Me, Gus and his dog. His flea infested dog. In fact, I would be inclined to say his dog infested fleas.

Anyway, we would set the empty beer cans on their sides and they would roll off the porch into the swamp. And within seconds there would be a chomping sound.

It was fun and Gus was my friend. I am sorry he has turned into a senile moron. But I guess that happens.

12 games down...Cowdoc in the lead at 9-3 with Child of Light and Chiso (watch out for Chiso) at 8-4. Six folks at 7-5. By my calculation, Cowdoc can not be stopped this week.

I'm batting .500 today, sadly.

Some of the teams I liked in the first week or two - Buffalo, New England, Washington - are now performing, just as I've gotten over my preference for them.

'least I picked Cleveland...

Sorry I missed out this week, but I had a very insane weekend with my wacked-out family because of a funeral, and I totally forgot to put my picks in here.

The good news is that I got my picks in at work, and I won the pool! Ha! I'm da man, baby! A hundred bucks! I went 11-2! I won some money! I won some money! Ha! Yeah! Sweet! Woohoooooo!!!! Who da man? I'M da man! Yeah, beeyatches!!!!

60 games played in the first 4 weeks. I reckon we are a 1/4th of the way through the regular season.
It was a good week for a few of us; pretty mediocre for the rest of us.

Cowdoc rocked, finishing at 11-3. He becomes the 4th different weekly winner.
Child of the Light and Chiso came in at 10-4. Had either of them managed to garner one more win, notably in their choices of San Diego and San Francisco, one of them could have stolen the week via the tiebreaker. So it goes, as Vonnegut wrote.
Region and Sublime managed respectable 9-5 records.
A bunch of folks were in a pack at 8-6: Jespah, JPinMilw, Fbaezer, Osso, Pantalones, George and Tico.
Bringing up the rear were Johnboy and Edgar at 7-7 and JPB and Liontamerx at 6-8.
Kickycan and McGentrix did not play this round. I hope they will be back for week 5.
Week 4 was a tough schedule. At first glance I thought Week 5 might be easier. I could be wrong.
Back in a bit with Year To Date scores and rankings!

For the year to date, Region managed to cling to his lead, but things are tightening a bit.

1) .750 (45-15) Region
2) .733 (44-16) Cowdoc
3) .700 (42-18) Chiso
4) .683 (41-19) George
5) .666 (40-20) Child of the Light
6) .659 (29-15) Liontamerx
7) .650 (39-21) JPinMilw
8) .633 (38-22) Pantalones
8) .633 (38-22) Sublime
8) .633 (38-22) Osso
11) .616 (37-23) Realjohnboy
12) .608 (28-18) McGentrix
12) .608 (28-18) Kickycan
14) .600 (36-24) JPB
15) .583 (35-25) Jespah
15) .583 (35-25) Tico
17) .566 (34-16) Edgar Blythe
18) .533 (32-28) Fbaezer

The best expert on ESPN is at .666 (40-20). 5 of us are as good or better.
Thirteen of us are better or equal to the worst expert.

Good luck to us all in Week #5.

Snickering re the field position of Fbaezer... who knows way more about sports than I do. Well, as he described, he's not paying attention yet. And Kicky would be higher up if he only had posted here what he did in his office.
So it goes, as Vonnegut would say.

By the way, I predict Pantalones will win. Do I get points for that?

I was lucky to get 6-8 last week after my 2-6 start. I might take gus' suggestion if I do worse than that this week.
