Oh, and hey, SF wasn't the complete no-show I thought for a while.

Green Bay scored no points? As in zero points? None? None at all?

I heard from panzade this afternoon. He hopes to join us soon. That would be cool.

Football is back and that's all that matters for now...because my Texas teams sucked.

Chiso: In the haste of getting this going I may have been slow in welcoming you to this thread. Most of the rest of us know each other; some of us have (gasp) actually met each other in person and quaffed a beer or three together. Welcome, and sorry about the teams from Texas going down.

Thanks - and don't worry, my feelings aren't hurt. On the contrary, even though I was participating with a few comments, I was enjoying the obscurity. I'm happy, as an outsider, that I'm allowed to play.
Thanks again!

Well, week 1 wasn't so bad.

On the Excel thing, I'm thinking about a way to make it so the user can be able to add or remove players at will and can't get it straight. So I'm actually thinking about making a new program alltogether, which will take more time but in the end it'll be much nicer and that way it'll also work for new seasons so even if the person keeping tally changes it should pose no problem.

I'll keep you posted on the development of the program.

Indeed how about SF? Alex Smith played good, Frank Gore play great, and Vernon Davis made a very nice catch. Niners have a good nucleus of young talent. We just have to wait 4 more years...

My sympathies go out to Sozobe and Occom Bill. They are in for a tortuous season.

This is not the time for sympathies to Packer fans Gus... this is the time to kick them when they're down.

First shut out since 1991... when the mighty Bears did it to them then too!!!

I notice that Yahoo has a game kind of like what we are doing called Yahoo! Sports Pro Football Pickum. The basic version is the same; pick the winner. More advanced versions include using point spreads and "confidence levels" which Gus would like, so you get to say, in essence, "I am 99% certain that Green Bay will get their butts kicked."

The first problem I have with Yahoo is that you have to register and have a password etc. I think that some of us aren't that committed. If it is on A2K, they will play.
More important is the method of scoring on Yahoo. As I read it, a player gets a point for each successful pick (same as here) and the winner for the season is the player with the most points. That is the way I have done it in the past but I will be going to wins divided by games picked this year so as to not penalize folks who miss a week. There will be something in the formula that says that the winning percentage is calculated only if a player picks in, say, 80% of the cumulative games for the season.

Thanks for seeing if a program can be devised. Take your time and if it proves to be more trouble than it is worth, don't feel obligated.

This is probably evident, but for the record, I won't be doing this -- my only interest in the NFL these days is the Packers, and while I'll choose them to win every time, this looks to be a painful season. (We'll see.)

Anyway, college football is grabbing a lot more of my attention this year.

Nope, he has Washington. He was also smart enough to choose the Colts.

Oh, yeah. I forgot about the "double-header."

Okay, here is where we are going into tonight's double header:

Cowdoc and George are at 10-4 and both of them have Washington and San Diego. If they are correct it will come down to the tiebreaker where Cowdoc has 38 points in the San Diego-Oakland game and George has 30.

Region is at 9-5 but he also has Washington and San Diego. So he can not gain any ground. Same situation with Child.
Also at 9-5 are J-B and Fbaezer and, since they differ from Cowdoc and George on tonight's games they have a chance. The worst case scenario would be if Washington loses to Minnestota. That would leave Cowdoc and J-B at 10 or 11-5 with both of them having 38 points in the tiebreaker. There are many other possibilities with this many players. If Minn and Oakland win, Jespah is in the hunt, for example.
The best solution, I think, is for one of yall to move the total points prediction off of 38 to 39 or 37.
