jespah, Did Ms HoT join A2K? Did she? That'll soitenly make my day! c.i.
Cobalt sends word via a certain black-foot ferret who is swift-footed, too. "I've been informed that Thursday am is the assigned day and time to meet my...ah....'connection' (yeah, that's it....) and I will then fly straight away, or perhaps a bit crookedly toward Piffka, Lola and all.
Cobalt sighs. She is regreting already the impending 1,000 miles of sore buttinski. But then, she is brightened by the thought of traveling through the Petrified Forest on her journey.
"Yeah, rocks ROCK!" says cobalt. And she thinks "Rocks - they are sooooo kewel, and like, dependable even - rocks just stay the same, time after time and over the millenia. " One last deep breath before plunging into the task at hand, and cobalt says "Rocks Rule! But I gotta get to Lola's Salon soon, for I've far to go and promises to keep!"
Diane, it seems, has found the swift-footed ferret and is shocked to no end when it began to speak to her.
Ci - Ms. HofT has indeed arrived. And I see cobalt is taking wing. :-D
Meanwhile, back at the saloon......
Peace&Love walks over to the honky-tonk piano and begins to plunk out some old ragtime tunes. She's playing "The Scott Joplin Rag". The piano is an old upright with an open front, so that the strings are visible.
The din from the piano wakes the slumbering hebba with a start.
"Nyup,nyup...wha..?Oh,Scott Joplin.Any whisky in this joint P&L?"
Without stopping the music, Peace&Love says, in beat to the ragtime tune....
"Hi, Hebba. .....'Whiskey Before Breakfast'...... That's one of my favorite CD's....... Bluegrass music by Norman Blake..... He's a fantastic guitar picker..... But then again....... I love all kinds of music......"
The man behind the bar (who kinda looks like Sal, from New York) asks Hebba what he would like to eat for breakfast......
And a guy favoring Wassau seems to be wandering about the tables, taking orders as well. Hummmm
A stomping of feet up the front steps is heard and Piffka walks inside. She is wearing a long brown canvas slicker and a barmah hat, both lightly dusted with snow which quickly melts in the heat of the room. Somebody nice helps her out of her coat and whisks it away. She surveys the scene... there seem to be a lot of people in the room.
PaL is playing nicely on a slightly out-of-tune piano, Lola is talking to a strange-looking waiter. Where'd he come from???
Diane motions to Piffka who moves to the sofa by the fire and sits down next to her. The waiter shimmers over to her side and she asks for coffee with a touch of whiskey and brandy in it. Diane shakes her head a little, but Piff just smiles. "I'm on vacation," she says. "Besides, we'll be snow-bound in another half-hour."
Outside, from around the corner by the old courthouse, there came a sound of hooves plodding tiredly. The strings of Joplin stirred the rider and his steed - "Scorpion! Do you hear that? It's Joplin who came from Texarkana, TX only a few miles from where you were born." said danon.
The Roman nosed, glass-eyed, pot-bellied old buckskin replied, " Yeah, I hear it. Let's have a look."
Together they plodded up to the hitching post in front of Lola's Saloon and stopped. Both let out a big sigh and in unison said, "Oh, good."
danon went to the door while Scorpion waited by the hitching post. "That sure sounds good Scorpion, I wish you could come in with me but maybe some civil right legislation will make that ok some day soon."
danon opened the door and stepped in after dusting himself carefully.
Looking up from the piano keys, PaL smiles and nods at Danon.
"Hey, Danon! Good to see you here!"
And, loudly through the window, "Hey, Scorpion! Good to see you, too! I'll play some more Scott Joplin tunes for you! To remind you of home!"
"Yep, and I'm a really good hoofer on the dance floor." said Scorpion.
Hi Pn'L!! That music is enough to come in from the snow for!!
Got any Hiram Williams?? I'll have a double shot and a snort on the side for Scorpion.
"Well, Howdy Danon!" Piffka recovers from the shock of a talking horse... the dream of her girlhood years and watching Mr. Ed.
"The snow is supposed to be coming in hard. There are some stalls in the back if Scorpion wants to take a load off his dancin' feet. Too bad I didn't bring the Pearl, but she doesn't travel well, nor does she talk!"
Lightwizard stumbles in completely disoriented (couldn't be to martinis at the Claim Jumper...naw). Where are we? Have we left Vegas yet? Sorry I left all of you stranded by the Wizardmobile needed a tune-up and I guess you all hoped a bus?
Diane's heart beats a little faster when she sees Danon walk through the door, wearing worn, faded jeans, scuffed boots and a sweat stained Stetson. She recognizes the real thing when she sees it. Sauntering over, she says, "Well howdee, cowboy!" Glancing out the window, she spots a remarkable looking horse. "Tell me," she asks, "is that the horse you rode in on?"
"Yes, maam" replies Danon. "He has been my partner for about 15 years now." "You would be amazed at what that ornery old critter can do."
Trying to back off in a nonchalant manner, Diane realizes that this is one of those cowboys who will always love his horse far more than any woman. "Welcome, cowboy and make yourself at home. Maybe Wassau can fix you a drink and find something your horse would like." "Thank you kindly, maam." Danon looks through the window and seems satisfied that Scorpion will be welcomed in this establishment.
"Oh piffka, why are there so few good men?" Piffka looks at Diane and says, "Well, there are plenty of good men, it's just finding one that isn't taken or too much in love with his horse. In this part of the country, that is quite a lot to ask."
We certainly appreciate the hospitality Maam. Scorpion will be pleased to visit the stalls. Thanks.
Your Pearl talks, all it takes is a little listening. But, that's ok, she's used to it.
Thanks for the HW, <sip> , that's good on a night like this.
Scorpion - THE STUD HORSE - went back to the stalls for some action while danon stayed inside trying to keep out of trouble with all the wild women looking at him in that way they do sometimes.
"Hi, LightWizard!! I'm not too sure how we ended up in The Wild West. How's the WizardMobile? Perhaps we should put some of those big cow horns on the front of the WizardMobile!!"
<Gads, you are right, Diane, he's gorgeous!>
"Can Scorpion find his way to the stall? I was thinking, maybe if he did meet Pearl, she could learn something from him. I do know what she's thinking, but that's mostly from looking at her face. She has very expressive eyes and ears and her lips move a lot, but she's never actually SAID anything."
