Withers, please assist Blatham in getting us started on the left foot. (It's the old soldier in me speaking - left foot)
good morning all. Still working away.
Lola trips over her feet as she enters the salon. She's been working and is for some reason feeling scatter brained and dull.........stupid. She's come to look for sympathy from her many friends, but they're all out doing stuff.
"Stuff," she says out loud. "Always stuff."
"Stuff, madame?" asks the ever attentive Withers.
"Yes, Withers," answers Lola, "it seems everyone is out doing stuff when I feel like crying on someone's shoulder. When I feel like whining and being a brat. Being rude to someone. "
"Maybe," says Withers, hesitating.........."maybe they're not here because they know your mood and needed to get busy elsewhere.." Withers ever so slightly clears his throat.
"Have I been rude already, Withers?" Lola asks, knowing Withers will be faithful and tell her the truth.
"Madame," says Withers, looking Lola in the eye, "you are sometimes offensive to others. You get short tempered and behave as if you know everything. People tire of this.........you know...."
"Yes, Withers," says Lola, "I do know. I think I'll take a walk around the park and then drop by and see Wassau. He's a good friend, I've always run to him when I have felt I needed help. In the meantime, I seem to be ignoring him lately. I wonder sometimes why he puts up with me. I can be such a bitch."
"Yes, Madame," says Withers without flinching, "you can."
"Yes, Lola," says Eva, entering the salon. "You are definitely a bitch...in the very best sense of the word. Trust me...it takes one to know one!"
Kicking off her shoes, Eva asks Withers for a glass of champagne, then settles on the opposite end of the sofa from Lola.
"I know what you mean, my friend," Eva says. "But don't let it worry you. We haven't deserted you, you know. I tried to stop by the last couple of evenings, but the door was bolted and nobody was home. I'm sure the others will be here shortly."
Withers brings Eva her glass of champagne and raises his eyebrows when she motions for him to leave the bottle on the table next to her.
As he leaves the room, Eva whispers to Lola, "Poor Withers, how long do you think he can put up with TWO of us?!"
Withers is in luck, Eva. He loves bitchy women. He'd go nuts with one of those moralizing, "good" types. I feel better now. I've been working and thinking. I love being a bitch, as long as I don't lapse into nastiness too often. I know you'll excuse me if I feel a bit needy from time to time, as long as I don't make a habit of it. I'm all better now (or almost.)
Any more folks out there who are bitches or bitch lovers? This seems to be the place for us.

It's perfectly alright to be bitchy every so often, Lola. By that, I mean complaining, but others may have different meanings. But have you ever noticed WHEN we are called bitches? It usually happens when we're being especially witty or when we've outsmarted men. Whenever that happens, I consider it a badge of honor.
Thank heavens most of your male friends here at the salon are not the sort to be intimidated by intelligent females!
